Hello and welcome to my Patreon!
My name is Justin Vasquez and I have been a harmonica player for over 15 years. My journey began while attending a high school "magnet" program for the arts in San Antonio, Texas. Just about everyone at that school played some type of musical instrument or sang and, honestly, I felt a bit left out. So I picked up the only instrument I could afford (being a high school student and all) and carried it around with me everywhere.

Throughout the years
I immersed myself in the music scene by introducing myself to respected harmonica players, attending live performances, and even taking the opportunity to jump on stage when invited. Even though I wasn't very good at the beginning, I persisted. I started attending harmonica conventions and events (Yeah, these are a thing!) and continued my practice and skill with the instrument.

I performed with many different types of bands that performed different types of music. It is commonly believed that harmonica is only played in blues, country, and folk music. However, I have performed in bands that performed salsa, rock, R&B, soul, gospel, funk, jazz, as well as the aforementioned genres. The harmonica is an extremely versatile instrument and with the right practice and dedication, anyone can play in any style of music.

That's where I come in.
There was a point where I started teaching the harmonica. I started doing private lessons for friends, for musicians I met through the music scene, and for people who had seen me perform live and genuinely became interested in the instrument. I eventually picked up a gig working as a harmonica educator and expert for a national chain music store for over 4 years. I educated people of all ages and backgrounds through that opportunity. I have also been blessed to present lessons and lead discussion at some of the harmonica conventions I have attended! Check out the picture below from a harmonica workshop in Mississippi last year. I also have educated at the local harmonica club meetings as a guest speaker.

So now you have an idea of my experience, but what's next?
Well, I have begun live-streaming harmonica playing on Facebook and will be moving to live-streaming on Twitch and YouTube as well. During streaming, I hope that you'll be entertained, inspired, and curious. I want you to communicate with me and let me know what you think and what you want to learn. Think of these as live, public question and answer sessions. I will also begin a harmonica lesson series on my YouTube channel. I have some other ideas for YouTube video as well, including collaborations with other artists and interviews with esteemed harmonica players. I am also currently exploring the production of a harmonica and music podcast. And finally, I will once again be offering my services as a harmonica instructor in person (if you are in the San Antonio, Texas area) or online via video chat (Skype or Facebook Messenger.)

And that is where Patreon comes in.
I love everything related to music. I love learning it, I love listening to it, I love playing it, and I love sharing it with everyone I meet. The downside is that producing this media content and teaching lessons takes quite a bit of time. A good majority of the content will be released via my public channels on YouTube and social media for everyone and anyone to see anytime.

Patreon, however allows you to make donations that go directly to me on a subscription type basis, (referred to as becoming a "Patron".) This provides me with a steady line of much appreciated financial support for the time taken to create the content. Patrons will also receive some really cool bonuses as a huge thanks for the donated support! I have a few ideas on what, but I'm not ready to share them at the moment. If you pledge before I announce these bonuses, rest assured, you will be receiving them. Private lessons will be offered through becoming a Patron and selecting the correct "Tier" based on how many monthly lessons they would like. More info on that soon.

Once again, thanks again!
I definitely appreciate you, above all, for just taking an interest in the harmonica and exploring the first steps. If you are a harmonica player already that is looking to progress and learn more, I appreciate you for continuing to love this magnificent instrument. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I look forward to showing you what the harmonica is capable of!
