About Kantan Japan

Welcome to Kantan Japan Patreon! I'm Julian, a British videographer and photographer living in Tokyo and making videos about Japan. Travel, language, culture, food, almost everything about the country interests me and I created Kantan Japan with the sole purpose of sharing that interest with other people!

For anyone that is new to Kantan Japan, there are mainly 4 types of video that I would like to make and alternate between.

Japanese Travel/Culture (Documentary Style) -

I love to travel and find interesting locations all over the country, be it camping under the wacthful gaze of Mount Fuji or spending the night in a 'Ninja Mansion', I endeavor to see every corner of this fascinating country.

Japanese language study advice and vlogs -
I know this may come as a shock to some but... I'm not Japanese. No, I'm just a lowly Gaijin, trying to make sense of the Japanese language, one onomatopoeia at a time. I make laguage tutorials about topics that interest me like 'Playing Games in Japanese'. There is also a series called 'Kantan Keigo', which aims to simplify formal Japanese phrases into more useable ones for daily conversations.

Random format, covering the many oddities than can be found in Japan -
There's no doubt that Japan is just down right weird sometimes. In celebration of that fact, this category of video is left fairly open to anything I may stumble across that fits the description of 'just plain odd'.

Cinematic Japan Series -

As a videographer, I am enamoured with the natural beauty of Japan and want to document it through short videos on my secondary channel 'Cinematic Japan'.

All these videos will be uploaded on the Kantan Japan (or Cinematic Japan) Youtube channel, free to watch, whenever and where ever you please. If you wish to take your Kantan Japan experience to the next level, you can become a supporter here on Patreon for as little as $1/£1 a month and have exclusive access to the following content.

Current Patreon content:
  • If available, all of Kantan Japan's Instagram photos will be uploaded to the Patreon page in full resolution, for a much better viewing experience.
  • Supplimentary content for the Kantan Keigo series and other language lessons in the future.
  • Between writing, filming and editing videos, I will endeavour to write some 'Patreon-only' articles about interesting things I come across in my daily studying and adventures. I'm also open to requests, so please let know me if you have any suggestions!
  • Personalised videos each month, focused on whatever you'd like about Japan.

Ideas for future subscriber-only content*:
  • When we have enough people in the community, I would like to do some Q&A's on Google Hangouts.

*(If I get enough requests for things, there is every chance that they'll find their way on to this list)

If you've made it this far, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to see what this channel is offering. If you've come here to join us as a Patreon subscriber then I'd like to thank you again from the bottom of my heart, for now being a part of this amazing community and pushing me to provide even better content in the future.
Goals
$19.45 of $50 per month
This is just the initial goal to help me cover any miscellaneous costs I incur whilst making videos. These are generally in the form of props or travel expenses.
