Hi!  How are you?  Welcome to my family of Watercolor Warriors!

For those who have stumbled upon my page, let me introduce myself. I'm an artist from Devon, UK who loves what I do!  I'm not afraid to experiment - creativity is like oxygen to me. I exhibit regularly, have been fortunate enough to win awards, I’ve dispatched my paintings to most major countries in the world, and I run workshops from my studio.  But enough of the ra-ra-ra ...

I'm excited to start offering exclusive content, rewards, and chat for folks generous enough to join me here.  I'd like this to be a two way thing - in order to understand what you'd like to see, I need your help!

FOR THE DETAIL SEEKERS (yes, you!)

So what's this about? ...

Through my ceaseless nattering on social media planet, I've met a lot of new friends and people who love my work (hello you!). Increasingly, you're heckling me, or telling me you wish you could learn from me regularly, so I've been working to make that easier. My plan? Host a community of Watercolor Warriors: people fascinated by the process of painting, and those who want to learn from me, affordably and conveniently.

I live to paint, I'm inspired by just about everyone and everything and there are watercolour smears on my face every day. I have a lot of enthusiasm and good stuff to share with you. I've put the work in ... a stint of formal study, life drawing sessions, the usual stuff. But crucially, I've been fortunate enough to learn from some world-class artists and I've been as persistent as an annoying terrier in pursuing the skills and knowledge crucial to the style of painting that sets my soul alight - fast, loose, expressive, glorious watercolor.

I was fortunate enough to be able to turn fully professional a couple of years ago. I've written a book encouraging fellow travellers of this path - "A Passion for Watercolour" - the critical-acclaim for which made me blush! I have learned, and still have yet to learn, an awful lot. But if I can invite you to be part of something beautiful, share with you the joy - and peace of mind - I feel when painting, so that if you want to, you can too, then I'm one happy bunny.

How does my Patreon page help?

you ...

This is my one-stop community hub - a close-knit army of Watercolor Warriors, hell-bent on wielding watercolor well!  Don't try saying that after a beer ;)  Clear demonstrations, fun tutorials, balanced critique, friendly community.  I'd love you to be part of it!

I'll be busy creating great content: video lessons, timelapses, patron-only posts and tips, and above all encouragement. Perhaps you just want to hang out over a coffee occasionally?  Or maybe you're a Weekend Warrior who wants to be inspired.

This is structured as tiers of involvement - as little or as much as you wish, consistent content from chat right up to full critique of your art, you get to choose.  I want this to be a dynamic place.  Art is a fluid thing - personal style is ever-evolving, mastery of medium continues.  For the learners, there are so many techniques to share with you, and like a jigsaw puzzle without edges, they can be called upon as your watercolor weaponry with which to carve out your own unique voice in painting.  There will be monthly big content released - lessons, time-lapses, PDFs, competitions - and plenty of action between those releases.  I have ideas literally exploding as I write for how I can help you.  We can run polls to prioritise what you want to see.  We can grow together!

me ...

I'm a social animal!  I get to enjoy my two favourite things - art and being part of a home team.  The more patrons who join me, the more time I can invest in helping my awesome Watercolor Warriors.

At the moment, I spend an awful lot of time on the road travelling to far-flung art fairs and shows to get wider exposure.  It's something artists need to do to keep making it all work in the real world, if they are to stay successful.  Joining my Patreon page will tip increasing quantities of that time toward actually creating, which helps us all.  You will be helping to empower my creative time and I will be forever grateful!

the planet ...

You'll be doing a great thing!  As an exhibiting artist, I'm best known for my wildlife paintings.  My love of all sentient beings is well recorded (I'm a hugger!), but our furry, feathered and scaled friends hold a sacred place in my heart.  5% of all earnings annually from my Patreon page will be donated to Naturewatch Foundation, a registered charity that has been speaking out on behalf of animals for over 25 years by:
  • Campaigning peacefully against animal abuse
  • Lobbying to improve animal protection legislation
  • Raising awareness through education
  • Supporting the World Animal Day movement to raise the status of animals around the globe.
