What is Grayscale?
Grayscale is a webcomic written by authors Alanna McGonegal and Skiecrow. This fantasy/science fiction story follows Nine and Dice, two morally questionable shape shifters on opposite sides of a brewing rebellion. The comic is freely available to read on our
website. It updates on Tuesdays. The comic originally started in black and white, but has since evolved into full colour!
Why do you need money?
At the moment, I make the majority of my income from painting commissions. This, unfortunately, leaves very little time for Grayscale. When free time is in short supply, projects like Grayscale are the first to suffer a decline in productivity, which can lead to gaps in updates or a full-blown hiatus. Patreon is a great way for readers to support us. With that support, we'll be able to update the comic steadily and, if we reach our stretch goals, with greater frequency!
What do we get for pledging? Does this mean the comic is only available to patrons?
The comic will always be free to read online. Patrons will unlock special content by pledging a monthly donation. Pledge perks range from access to sketches, streams, even desktop paintings featuring Grayscale characters. If you're interested, take a look at our different pledge levels.
Why $3000 for your goal?
For starters, I'm living in England, so this sum reflects the conversion from US currency into the British pound. At the time of writing this, $3000 USD equals around £1750. This is a realistic amount to cover my monthly expenses. With these necessities covered, I could quit my job and draw Grayscale full time. This would enable me to update 2-3 times a week rather than just once!
