Whenever I want to do something new, I dig in and learn everything I can. When I wanted to be a better cook I went to cooking school for 2 years and made sure I worked with the best Chefs I could find. When I wanted to learn how to use my Mac, iPad and iPhone to improve my handling of recipes, reference material and organization, I read everything I could lay my hands on and built myself a great system. None of this makes me an expert at anything but it does make me a highly skilled generalist.

I know what it is like to wade through an endless sea of other people's opinions in books and on the internet looking for information about food and cooking. There is a great deal of (often very crude and costly) information out there. I promise you that I will not give you bad, ill-informed, ridiculous or otherwise stupid advice.

I also know how difficult it is sometimes to decide what to cook. Some of us get stuck in ruts and can go years without trying something new. Others face most evening meals looking in the fridge for anything edible or (more costly and damaging) something pre-made. This is no way to live and I can teach you a better way. We have to eat; we might as well enjoy it.

By supporting me, you are allowing me to distill what I have learned over the years and ultimately, the time to assist you personally with meal planning, how to shop better, how to set up your kitchen and whatever else you want to know about cooking. I'm good at it and I can help you be better at it, no matter what your beginning skill level. The aim here is to help people so some content will still be free, but patrons get to have me solve problems for them personally, as well as getting access to exclusive material, product reviews (unbiased) and my personal menu plans and workflows.

I love sharing what I know (got a degree in that, too), which is the purpose of this campaign. I think there are people out there to whom a little knowledge would make a huge difference. I see you at farmers' markets, cooking gear stores, grocery stores; anywhere that foodstuff is consumed or purchased. You sometimes look confused. Apparently, I don't so we often manage to find each other and I do my best under the circumstances. I want to do better.

Pick my brain. I'm here to help you!
