Hello art and poetry lovers!  Welcome to my Patreon!

I am an artist and writer living and working in Columbus Ohio. I moved here in 2013 when my life on the West coast kind of fell apart and I needed a major do-over. To be honest, I never wanted to live in Ohio. But after over a decade of living nowhere near any of my family, I realized my do-over needed to involve by being closer to them. And do you know what happened? I moved to Ohio and life started working out. I found a job I love and a studio of my own and a community of artists that continues to inspire and support me. My education is in book arts and poetry and I work heavily with fiber (fabric, yarn, thread) and found objects. As far as poetry goes, I mostly write haiku-like poems but occasionally a longer poem will jump out of me.

So here I am creating the next step. I spent a lot of time thinking about what tier system I wanted and after I had it all planned out I realized that I would exhaust myself trying to keep track of things. So I decided to make this a pay what you can/want type of thing. I've always had a hard time assigning monetary value to my art and writing anyway, and this is an opportunity for me to step away from that model of thinking.  So, everyone who pledges any amount will have access to my (at least) once a month posts about what I'm making in my studio. There will be art! There will be poetry! There will probably be pictures food too! Also, everyone who joins me on this adventure will get at least one actual physical thing per year via snail mail! (maybe more because surprise snail mail is always exciting, but I will only promise one thing right now)

My patron only posts will focus mostly on my studio and the process of creating.  My old studio was a magical space with lace curtains over the multi-paned window and a loft for when I needed a nap. There was a tiny kitchenette with a two burner stove and little refrigerator.  A lot of creative things were made in this studio and I can already tell that my new studio will inspire even more creative things! The new studio comes with a full kitchen, a bathroom, a basement, and a backyard. I get to share the space with my friend Sarah and her cat Daphne and I can't wait to share with you a little "behind the scenes" magic!

Patrons will see works in progress and drafts of poems at various stages. Too often there is a disconnect between the finished project and the steps it took to get there. I strongly believe that the act of making is just as important as the final piece and I would love for you to come along on the journey!
