About Me and My Art

I'm Kayla a bi genderqueer writer, zinester, and performance poet from Seattle. I create art to make sense of my life, show other crazy queers my tricks for surviving, and dream up better worlds. I write essays, creative nonfiction about my life, and poetry.

Current Projects

My major work in progress is a memoir that started off with the working title Asexual Dysfunction, about (a)sexuality, trauma, and sexual dysfunction. It's at about 30,000 words now and has evolved to also include online dating, medically transitioning as a nonbinary person, and the healing power of trans4trans love.

Patrons get exclusive access to writing in progress and pieces that don't have a home anywhere else yet.

Why I'm on Patreon

I want to spend my life writing things that will help queer and trans people survive and thrive. Become a patron to help me dedicate more of myself to this endeavor.

Funding artists is funding liberation.

If you want to support my work on a one-time basis, my zines are available at kaylarosenzines.etsy.com

Support my artistic development + previous goal tiers

Part of being an artist is going to events where other artists are, to support them, learn from them, be inspired, and reach a larger audience. This level would cover my printing costs, plus parking, gas, and admission for one art event a month.
