About me:
My name is Keith Franklin (29) and I am an artist and writer. For the past twelve years, I have been developing an original story that has taken the incarnation of a novel for the past six. Much of my artwork pertains to this story.
I consider myself a storyteller first and foremost. Whether I'm writing, drawing, animating, or making short films, the craft I truly love is that of the narrative itself. If you had seen me at age 10 adjusting the moving parts of a clay monster for just one of 24 painstaking shots per second, it was not because I wanted a career in sculpting or stop-motion animation -- it was because they were the only tools I had at the time to tell that story. From the outside, I might seem scattered to those who have seen me flutter between filmmaking, animation, illustration, conceptual design, screenwriting, and now to the long-term endeavor of writing a novel. But for me, every craft or medium is scaffolding around the same subject: that story. And if I had any musical talent, I'd have probably written a rendition for my trumpet as well.
(That said, the medium I've always envisioned my stories ultimately aspiring to is live-action film.)
What you can expect from me:
Do you like art? I'll regularly share sketches, drawings, and paintings, be they conceptual design, promotional art, or personal catharsis. I hope to eventually provide step-by-step insight and/or process videos to digital paintings as I do them, assuming there is interest.
Do you like reading and/or writing? I will post what updates I can related to the writing of my novel, in addition to excerpts and bits of exclusive lore or trivia. For those so inclined, a rough chapter will be made available each month.
The plea:
I'm here hoping to open up my creative processes to any and all who are interested. It so happens that writing takes time, and time is, well... you know the rest. Please help me vanquish the student debt monsters at my gates so that I can do what I love to do. Whatever your decision, I thank you for taking your time to read this. Godspeed in your own creative endeavors and have a wonderful day!
