Hello and welcome! I'm Kelsey Allagood, and as a great woman once said, I need time.

I'm a writer of fictioncreative nonfiction, and opinion. And I'm writing a novel.

I also have a full-time job. And since I began writing this novel in 2017, I have rediscovered what I'm sure I knew all along--that writing is what sustains me, fulfills me, and brings me joy. And I can do it--and do it gladly--while working full-time. I mean, my first draft of this book came in at 214,000 words (don't worry, I'm gleefully cutting A LOT). But hell, I'm getting tired. I'm getting married, my mom is moving in with us due to her health and financial issues, and I'm an only child. I need time, and I need help.

About the novel. This novel is fantasy, but it's a different kind of fantasy. Some might call it hopepunk; others might say Lockeian; I like to call it high fantasy with a heart. I don't believe in heroes or gods riding in to save the day. I also don't believe that every human, deep down, is pure, selfish evil. Somewhere in between is truth: flawed people trying to do good (and bad) things for complicated reasons. My work draws on my own story, as well as my experience supporting young democracies around the world grow stronger, my studies in intercultural communications, and my degree in conflict resolution. I'm interested in the human element of major political upheavals. Because isn't that what everything comes down to in the end--you, me, us?

Most of all, I want my readers to know they are not alone. Books were my friends during my loneliest periods. They still are. I would be honored and humbled if you would help me reach people with my words.
