Welcome!
Thank you for your interest and support! If you enjoyed my last solo exhibition Intimate Immensities, and my recent installations, please consider becoming a monthly patron to support my growing studio practice toward the creation of my next solo exhibition (details to follow soon).

My Story...
"Probing the analogous and infinitely related structures of our universe, from the microscopic to the macrocosmic" (Casey Mcdonough).

I am a multidisciplinary artist based on the west coast of Florida with my wife Maggie, our young son Cedar, and our old shepherd Olive. We journey back and forth between St. Petersburg and our family land in rural Gulf Hammock we call The Floating Woods. As a native who spent my formative years out of doors exploring and observing, I have a deep connection to and love for Florida’s unique natural environment. My diverse practice includes, the collection and manipulation of found specimen, sculpture, installation, painting, photography, video, gardening/fathering, and a steady consumption of culture.

I have exhibited in dozens of local and national group exhibitions over the years. My premier solo exhibition took place at The [email protected] in 2015. Fall 2017 I had an exhibition with Casey McDonough at the Morean Arts Center in downtown St.Petersburg and this summer 2018 I exhibited new works in their climate change themed group show Water Over the Bridge. June 30th I had a pop-up exhibition entitled Solar Flare. I currently have several new works in the "I + Thou" exhibition at The Dunedin Fine Arts Center, and in the "Terrains" exhibition at the AIA Tampa Bay Gallery. In 2017 I was awarded the Creative Pinellas Emerging Artist Grant and in 2018 I received the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance Individual Artist Grant. Upcoming Exhibitions include the "!!!!" group show at the Mize Gallery, Creative Pinellas Grantee Showcase, and a solo exhibition at the HCC 221 Gallery.

Cosmos Collector
Like the naturalists of old who ventured into the unknown, returning with curiosities to contemplate and impart, I collect, preserve, and transform common, overlooked phenomena hidden just beneath the surface of the natural and cultural environments all around us into embodied mysteries imbued with significance. Many source materials are gathered from extensive stalking in and around The Floating Woods. Others I find locally through my work as a native landscape gardener, on walks in the park, or just outside my front door. These all gather in chaotic piles and ephemeral dioramas, often filling my studio, garage, and yard until over time they are given narratives. Paralleling this curiosity with nature I also engage in a near continual rhizome-like, cross-discipline consumption of culture including art, music, literature, religion, philosophy, physics, history, etc. My studio practice flows out the integration and these compulsions. The varied creations emerge through linking these wanderings/dwellings in the field with an intuitive approach to making that guides the direction and shapes the layered meanings of the artworks.

The exciting thing about conceptual art is that the emphasis is more on the questions it raises, and the dialogue it inspires. The explorations of an exhibit like this don’t necessarily have a predetermined destination.” (from a recent interview)
