Milestone Goals
A little present!
$300 per month
I will mail everyone, who are current patrons at $5 or more when this goal is met, a super cool, limited edition Monkey Mod pin back button that will look rad on your awesome jacket, your sweet messenger bag and/or purse, and on everything else in between. It will be available to all other patrons at a big discount.
Ads are the worst!
$400 per month
If this goal is met, I'll remove all the ads from all my videos!
Gear upgrade!
$600 per month
If this goal is met, I'll be able to do some upgrades to my video setup. For example, buy a new mic, better lighting, better editing software, some screen capture software, and other things like that to make my videos more awesome.
Monkey Mod gets faster and you get art!
$1,000 per month
With my freelance workload, I only have a limited amount of time to work on the comic each week. If we get to this goal, then I can hire a babysitter or pay for daycare for my daughter, and have way more time to finish "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show" comics.
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL...
When this goal is achieved, I'll start doing a monthly drawing to send patrons, at the $5 or more level, original penciled pages of "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show".
Two videos a week and a regular schedule!
$1,500 per month
I'm striving to do at least one video a week now, but if we can get to this milestone, I'll do two videos a week and start uploading them on a regular schedule.
A better website!
$2,000 per month
I'm currently using Tumblr with a webcomic theme for "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show". Its ok, but not good enough. If this milestone is reached, I can hire someone (or learn myself) to design a new website for a much cooler online experience.
Monkey Mod goes full time!
$3,500 per month
At this point, "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show" will be my full time job! All those hours spent on freelance client work will come to an end and be replaced by work on my comic! A dream come true! If we get to this goal, I want to show my gratitude by giving all my patrons a secret gift.
That's bananas!
$20,000 per month
OK... I admit it... this one is kind of a joke...
But if the mighty $20,000 goal is achieved, I will quit my current client work immediately. Maybe would like to see me finish "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show" much, much faster and want to see more videos really really badl? I swear I'll use the money to pay whatever fees, legal or otherwise, that may be incurred to break my current contract. If this dough isn't raised by the end of November 2015, I'll take this milestone down and replace it with a new milestone that is equally ludicrous. Like maybe, I'll bake all of you a pie and deliver it by hot air balloon? We'll see...

About

I'm an illustrator/cartoonist on a quest for freedom from corporate leviathans that put cash before creators. I'm making a comic about a monkey secret agent moonlighting as a rockstar called "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show".

Additionally, I've been skateboarding since 1984, playing guitar for various punk rock outfits since 1985, and enjoying the sweet taste of lemon meringue pie ever since I can remember.

Hi everyone! I'm Kevin Cross and I've been working as a professional illustrator and cartoonist for the past 15 years. The business is way too unpredictable and I've become disillusioned by clients that put profits before quality and creators. It is my goal to stop working on their dreams and stop neglecting my own. That's where you can help out as a patron.

Here's what I'm making...

Comics...
My comic book/ webcomic series, "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show", is a secret agent, adventure, mystery story starring a monkey who moonlights as a mod rocker when he's not trying to solve nefarious plots. My goal for this comic is to be fun, way cool, totally far out, and the best art & story I can create. It is the project I'm most passionate about working on.

And Art Videos...
I've had a great experience making videos and posting them on YouTube and I want to be able to do them better and more often. I started getting more serious about making videos in 2014 when I did the first "100 Days of Making Comics" videos. I recently completed a second round of that series too. I originally started doing it to hold myself accountable in public to make progress on "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show" for at least 30 minutes a day, for 100 days in a row, no matter what. In between the first "100 Days of Making Comics" and the second, I did a few handfuls of videos called "Kevin Makes Comics & Other Stuff", which is a series I am returning to now. I'm also going to be doing a live show called "The Art Showdown", with my friend Harper Jaten, that invites audience participation. My goal is to post one video a week with art demos & tutorials, comic making, painting, and anything else that fits under the banner of comics & art.
And...
Your patronage will afford me more time to work on the things I'm most passionate about and the ability to say "no" to the client work that gets in its way.

Patrons will have access to the behind the scenes process as I work on "The Monkey Mod & Friends Show", thus getting to read the story as it is being created, before anyone else sees the final in print or on the web. As a patron, I'm going to be giving discounts on any original art, merchandise, and books I create. Plus, I'll make those things available to you before I share them with the public. It is my highest hope to make this a rewarding Patreon campaign for everyone involved.

Thank you and stay rad!
