I am pursuing a goal I've had for over 20 years, which has been a dream since I first saw a sailboat on the water; and, we could use your help.

About 8 years ago, I had a cerebral aneurysm rupture, which should have killed me. Before that, I had spent a lot of time and effort repairing older, used boats and sailing them; however, none of them got me to my goal of sailing the world. While watching another sailboat build on YouTube, I learned that George Buehler had passed away last year. While I, like many in the DIY sailboat community, was saddened by the loss of such a great adventurer, the way he passed hit too close to home. It frightened me.

I had come awfully close to saying "some day" rather than just getting things done. This is the beginning of moving into gear, and we would like to share that journey with you.

We are building a 24′ sailboat, the junk-rigged Tasman, designed by Paul Fisher There are so many questions that I’ve had over the years about sailing and building a boat that seem to be glossed over or not included; it is due to that fact that I started this website.

I had met an older couple in San Rafael Yacht Harbor in 2009 who encouraged me to not only follow my dream of sailing, but to build a boat, as well. They had built their sailboat in New Zealand and have used it as a moving business card to advertise their expertise in every harbor in which they stay. What better way to see the world and work at something you truly love doing?

We are documenting the entire voyage, from the whisper of an idea, the developing of the dream, all the way to S/V Khepri's maiden voyage.

Who we are:

  • Steve - The main drive behind this build;
  • Teresa - Steve's awesome friend who likes to adventure with him;
  • Keet - A long-time friend who has been there for Steve through thick and thin;
  • Matt - One of the kindest, adventurous, and flat-out craziest people you will ever meet; and
  • hopefully YOU, as a patreon supporter!
And, as a patreon supporter, once we get her afloat and moving, we would be delighted to take you on a one or two day sail in whatever harbor we happen to be in. It may be close quarters, but that's an ideal situation to become friends. You would be responsible for any costs associated getting to the harbor; however, after that, we would make sure you had all the food and safety gear needed for the day/2-day sail. As the day gets closer to the launch date, we'll put up more information.

If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected], visit our website and use the contact form, or visit us on YouTube and leave a comment there.

Thank you for considering helping us to follow our dream.
