Eden Frost is creating Role Playing Games

Garden is a role playing game designed as a hybrid of classic tabletop RPGs and the freeform written roleplaying often found on online forums. As it takes aspects of both, it should be relatively easy for those who come from a background of either to adapt their knowledge from. It is, however, designed to be welcoming to those with no background in either as well. Garden also makes it a key point of its focus to bring some sense to how things work- you won't find a hardened warrior standing there and taking a slash across the chest because it's not their turn, nor will you find receiving such injuries being shrugged off because their health pool is too big for such an attack to matter.

As for the world, what I've worked to create is a world that allows for freedom, provides variety, and is naturally understanding of certain key issues. I try to use it to combat certain nonsensical archetypes, be inclusive of LGBT stuff, and ignore all the racist nonsense that our world has put forth. If you want to go create a short, clumsy, chubby, dark skinned trans girl elf, you go for it. You want a skinny, brainy orc? Wonderful! You want a generic human warrior type who's spectacular with a sword but also slings spells without stopping? Fantastic. Alignments are fluid, people are complex, and stuff is way weirder than fantasy likes to acknowledge sometimes. I encourage you to embrace it.

Over the years I've worked on Garden, I and those who have helped me have come up with a bunch of unique races, creatures, powers, and items. We've also adapted certain widely known races, creatures, powers, and items to fit the world. My hope is that by building up this framework, even without being able to think up every possibility myself, other Game Masters who may use the system will be able to easily work out how to fit in things that I hadn't thought of, and hopefully create a wonderful time for everyone involved.

What will hopefully be happening with this Patreon is that I will, with the help that you provide, be able to dedicate more time to active development of Garden, as well as add new ways for you to experience it. Eventually, I plan to hire professional artists for things like the bestiary, potentially start recording a podcast, publish stories within the universe, and as a long term goal, get Garden itself published. For now, however, what I will be releasing will consist of bimonthly chapters I will be writing based on campaigns I have run in the past or am currently running.

To introduce myself beyond the project, my name is Eden. I'm a bisexual trans woman, and I've been working on Garden with a group of friends from all over the world for several years now, to the point that this Patreon is only being created while Garden is in what I'm referring to as "Garden Beta 2.0." So much work has gone into this system, and should it eventually take off, I hope to continue to work on it while also writing short stories and even novels based on the adventures my friends and I have crafted together in the world. I hope you will join me for that journey.

Should you want to contact me about Garden, my email is [email protected]. I can't guarantee I'll respond to every email, but I will at least read them all. If you are a patron, you are more than welcome to email me at that email and ask for the documentation for Garden, and you will receive pieces of it as you need them.
