When we reach $500 a month it will be possible to complete the system upgrades for ticketing and membership, making Kinky Salons across the world more efficient and streamlined.
A Local Visit
$1,000 per month
When we reach $1000 a month will mean I can fly to a local Kinky Salon and meet in person, attend a party, and have a face to face. There are a million tiny details that are lost in translation and being there in person is the single most helpful thing I can do.

An International Visit
$2,000 per month
Reaching $2000 is huge. My time will be freed up to travel further afield, and visit communities in Europe and beyond.

BONUS: When I reach the $2000 a month goal, as a special thank you, one lucky beloved patron will win free Kinky Salon entrance, FOR LIFE. (In US only)

Kinky Salon isn’t a product, it’s art.

Kinky Salon isn’t a business, it’s a community.

Kinky Salon is a gift.

Why Pledge?
Because you care about Kinky Salon and want more people to have the opportunity to experience it.
This Patreon is raising funds for the overarching organization that supports the international Kinky Salon movement. With your support this will become the hub for a Kinky Salon podcast, blog, the latest news, and photos from events all over the world. By making a pledge you can show the world that you care about Kinky Salon (although hiding your pledge is also possible if you're feeling shy.)

Who is behind this campaign?
My name is Polly Superstar and I'm the founder of Kinky Salon. A few years ago I started sharing the "social technology" of Kinky Salon with other event producers around the world. You can read more in depth details about me and my projects in the About section in the left sidebar.

The Story of Kinky Salon
In the past few years Kinky Salon has grown to be more than a little party in San Francisco. These days there’s a network of communities around the world, and each chapter is a unique expression of the vision, and a labor of love. There are currently teams of volunteers in New York, New Orleans, Portland, Austin, NorCal, London, Berlin, Copenhagen, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and, of course, San Francisco. We have created spaces for sensual exploration, art, love, and collaboration. We have brought sexuality into the forefront of our communities, and out from the shameful shadows behind the bedroom door. We’ve had our hearts cracked open, and we got our rocks off too. We dressed up in ridiculous costumes and we had some surprising revelations. We fell in love. We had our hearts broken. We learned the true meaning of the word "community.”

As the global events grow and expand, the need to figure out how to sustain the overarching organization is becoming more important. Instead of looking to traditional business models, I have decided to turn to crowd funding. This consensual model of contributing is in alignment with the ethos of Kinky Salon, and gives everyone the opportunity to support Kinky Salon in blossoming into a thriving global community.

What we really need is a rich gazillionaire to have their lives changed by Kinky Salon, and support us as a philanthropic patron. While we’re waiting for them to show up, I’m reaching out to every person who has fallen in love, found a best friend, discovered something about themselves, tried something they never thought they would, made a connection, found their community, and been transformed. If you like the idea of more people having the opportunity to experience a Kinky Salon, then please make a pledge. Even the smallest pledge is important, like a stitch in a tapestry.

What your money will help pay for:
A new website with newsletters and communication combined into an integrated system with member management and online ticketing.
  • One of the most challenging aspects of starting up a Kinky Salon is cash flow. Finding the funds to pay out costs that happen before and during the event usually means one of the team has to foot the bill, because most ticketing services release money about two weeks after the event. The new website will give chapters immediate access to money from their ticket sales.
  • Kinky Salons currently use a complicated combination of spreadsheets and forms to track their members. It’s a lot of work. The new member management will make it easy with automated systems.
Setting up new events
  • Enquiries come in all the time with new teams wanting to set up Kinky Salons. I review each application, researching the people and the location.
  • Deciding whether or not to allow new events to start is a process that requires a lot of communication. I often email back a forth extensively with all team members.
  • Once they have been approved, they need to get the information they need. I walk them through the manual and answer questions.
  • Each new team needs to be trained. I have skype sessions and phone calls with the teams and share information via email.
Advice and support
  • Conflict resolution can be tough for both new and experienced teams. I can give them a guiding hand and a calm voice to help them through their teething process, and when they get burned out.
  • Dealing with repeat problem guests is tricky, especially when they are volunteers. I’ve had many years of experience and am available to advise.
  • Sometimes there can be misunderstandings about how things are run. When a team isn’t sure, and when it’s not in the manual, they can come to me for advice.
Inspiration
  • When teams need a boost I email them with inspiring missives to get them back on track.
  • When teams are feeling drained creatively I help them with their process.
  • When things go wrong.
  • It doesn’t always work. When circumstances get out of control and an event just isn’t working, it takes huge amounts of time and communication to dismiss a team gracefully.
A written manual and reference guide
  • Although every Kinky Salon is a little different there are some components that are important to make it a Kinky Salon. These are mostly written down already, but there are some glaring things missing. This manual desperately needs to be developed and edited.
  •  An online version of the manual would be a place for sharing ideas, asking questions, and collaborating across different Kinky Salons.
Touring, flights, travel and check ins
  • Our web is large, spread across the world, but every time I visit a Kinky Salon the community tightens. They get a better understanding of where their Kinky Salon comes from, and they appreciate the uniqueness and value of being part of a global community.
  • I want to experience the community fully, so I stay with volunteers and never splurge on fancy accommodation.
  • When I visit Kinky Salon’s first hand I see things I would never know otherwise. I can nip potential problems in the bud, and help rally teams. Meeting the volunteers face to face builds trust, and makes online communication smoother.
  • Letting teams know that they’re getting it right is a powerful motivator. I need to witness teams getting it right first hand.
  • Sharing the love on stage during the cabaret means reaching the guests with a direct message.
A podcast
  • I want to bring the voices of Kinky Salon to the forefront, interviewing real people and discovering how their experiences at Kinky Salon have affected their lives. Then I want to share those conversations with you.

The word "community” means, "to give among one another.” Here’s your chance to give a little, and assure the future of the international Kinky Salon community.
