About the Creator

Akiyama no Roushya was founded in 2014 by CJ Hammond as a NIPPO registered breeder of Kishu Ken. Kishu Ken are a medium sized, aboriginal breed from the ancient province of Kii, Japan, where modern day Wakayama and Mie sit. The Kishu Ken was historically bred for hunting large game, such as wild boar, in the temperate and mountainous rain forest of the region.

This Patreon page was established to help bring funds to support the cause of the Kishu Ken in North America by helping publish websites, print educational breed materials, and get Kishu Ken out into conformation shows and sports. Funds may be for "house use" in this effort or may be distributed to other enthusiasts in need who would like to help educate the public on the breed.

The Kishu Ken have sharply declining numbers in their native Japan, and if we do not act to get dogs and enthusiasts in the public eye and endear newcomers to the breed, their end could realistically be in our lifetime.

For supporting this effort, you will receive:
  • A personalized thank you card in the mail.
  • Earn access to our Patron-only blog and information.
  • & potential access to our "After-party Raffle" per each event.

Our current goal is to get Kishu Ken and their friends to the Nihon Ken Invitational in Gardena, California. $200 can potentially support the pre-entry fees for up to SIX Kishu Ken for both shows, or pay for a smaller number AND their temporary listing numbers for the show for enthusiasts who are not yet UKC registered with their dogs.

$200 can alternatively pay for almost 2000 miles round trip for travel fees for the show in a fuel efficient vehicle.
