About Kitanya Harrison

On May 6, 2018, I started a Medium account and started posting essays focusing on the intersection of pop culture and politics. To my surprise, it took off. I write fiction as Harrison Kitteridge and had a Patreon account with 0 patrons under that name. My success on Medium has led me to relaunch it as Kitanya Harrison. As the header states, I’ll be producing essays.

My patrons will have first-look access to essays I’ll eventually share on Medium as well as access to exclusive, patron-only essays. I’ll also share patron-exclusive blog posts that are a bit more personal. I’ve branched out from pop culture and write a lot about the deteriorating political situation in the United States, the rise of fascism, the failure of capitalism, and I’ve committed to talking more about climate change. I also write about sports from time to time. How racism and sexism play into these issues are themes I return to often.

My fiction explores some of the issues I address in my writing on politics and culture. I thought my patrons might enjoy a different tone and perspective from me, so I’m giving my pair of Sherlock Holmes novels away as rewards. They are set in a near future in which social networking is government-mandated and is pushing detectives into obsolescence. I’m quite anxious about the surveillance apparatus we’re all participating in, and that’s what drove me to write the books. Here’s the trailer for Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Paper Journal (I’m also giving patrons the prequel, Before Holmes Met Watson):

Thanks for taking the time to check out my Patreon, and I hope you’ll become a patron!
