About Kitsch Collins

Hey! I'm Kit Collins. I'm a Eastern Massachusetts-based illustrator, muralist and free-range artist originally from upstate New York.

When people ask me to describe my work, I struggle. I've painted murals for children's libraries, carved rubber stamps for the ICA/Boston, and designed wallpaper for gallery bathrooms. I host art-making workshops and organize support groups for local creatives. I share 365 dogs and cats per year as part of my @poochvilleusa and @catsdelicatessen projects. I may be a professional spaghetti-at-the-wall-thrower.

I didn't go to art school. After I graduated with a B.A. in Peace & Justice Studies in 2015, I decided to follow my pipe dream, and started freelancing as an artist. It's an incredibly rewarding, draining, energizing, exhausting, gratifying, difficult, joyful, emotional path, and I am still very much figuring out how to make it sustainable.

I use art to bring joy to people's lives – through the walls in their homes and community centers, through their Instagram feeds, through events, through what shows up in their mailbox or wrapped up in a gift package. This is a huge privilege. I want to continue doing this work, and to do it better.

Your support enables my efforts to make the world a more welcoming, gentler, funnier place. Thank you!
