Geek and Yarn, the Love of gaming, combined with the fun of crafts!

Dr Who's scarf? Yep, I made one!
Jayne's Hat? I have made one of those.
Dr Quinns shawls? Up to date I have made four of them!
Breaking Bad blanket? Its on my Sofa right now!

Whichever game, movie, show or hero that has used or worn something Yarn related, you can guarantee I have either made it or hunted down a pattern for it. Sometimes I have even written my own patterns to make sure it is just right.

I recently discovered the world of Twitch, and as such I have been making a few streams here and there to get a feel for the whole experience. I am barely dipping my toes into the purple liquids of this new and exciting feature, but so far, I like the luke warm feeling it brings me! The tingle when another viewer pops up, or my little follower gif dances on the screen is amazing. Even something as small as a "Hi" in the chat box makes me smile and gets me all happy feels.

So, why Patreon?

Why not? Seriously though, there is little chance that a crafter can get quite as many views as a gamer can on Twitch, so being partnered is something way, waaay, waaaaay down the line.. So, Patreon is where I was directed too for help and assistance in the financial side of my little business. Yes, I sell on Etsy and Facebook, but we all need that little extra boost every now and then.

At the moment, I need better equipment to allow for better streams. My goodness, the cost of decent equipment is quite scary! But, it is a much needed asset for me to be able to bring YOU better streams, and hopefully, somewhere down the line, some tutorials on the crafts I currently do.

Which crafts, Witch crafts?

Crochet is my first love. I learnt to crochet over a decade ago and I have never looked back since. Even to this day I am still learning new techniques, new stitches, and new ways to use yarns with a hook. Being a "hooker" is both rewarding and fun and I can happily do it absolutely anywhere and at any time. It is not often I am seen without a hook and yarn in my hand. Even on the tram, school run and doctors waiting room. I am always hooking.

Knitting. This is a craft I learnt at a very, very young age. At the same time, it is not my first craft, and it is not something I would chose over other crafts either. I just can not get to grips with two needles over my one hook. I can knit, and I can knit quite complicated patterns, but i am not very quick at it, so I always go back to my crochet. But, practice makes perfect!

Cross Stitch/Tapestry is another yarn and thread craft that I absolutely love, and something else I learnt years ago. I am sure it was during school that I first had a go at cross stitch, and over the years I have formed quite a collection of threads and yarn scraps just for this type of crafts.

Polymer clay. Wow... what a new and interesting world of crafts can be found here! Everything from earrings to yarn bowls, coasters, statues, phone holders and napkin rings. There is no end to the uses for clay created items and I am barely touching the edges of this fascinating new skill that I am learning. I have not made many pieces yet, but the possibilities are endless!

Sketching & Painting is something I think everyone does from time to time. I do it when I have an idea and can not find the right words to try to explain what I can see in my crazy mixed up mind! I dig out the Copics and watercolour pencils and I throw the images down onto paper, canvas, card, blackboard, or anything I can draw onto.

Finally, Gardening... What? Yeah, I know it is not a 'craft' per say, but surely it could still fall under the "Creative" tag that Twitch carries? This is still a huge love of mine and I felt that I needed to add it to this list so you can see the extent of my love of anything that requires my hands. I have always grown my own foods to the best of my abilities, using the surrounding environment I have access to at the time. Whether its a box on a window or a balcony, all the way up to a full blown field! Everything from cress to potatoes, even pumpkins and flowers. Herbs in the kitchen window and tomatoes on the patio! Growing your own is both satisfying and healthy. Win win!

Final Note?

Is anything even final, really? There is no final note for me, because Crafting is never ending. Just as I finish one project, there is always another one in the pipeline or even one already started tucked away somewhere, waiting to be picked up again.

My only final note I can really add, is Thank you. Thank you for making it this far and not doing tl;dr and just dropping down here. If you did do that, Thank you anyway, for coming to my Patreon page!

Thank you in advance if you do decide to help this crazy crafter, and thank you for allowing this girly geek to continue her passion, her love affair and her mad skillz in mixing the old with the new, bringing the Worlds of gaming and geek culture and colliding it with wool, yarn and other craft projects.
