Hello! My name is Cara. I'm a photographer.
Your support means the world to me.

Moving to Canada 15 years ago from England. I can't deny I still have a weakness for a strong cup of tea and crisps with my sandwiches. I live in Vancouver BC and have bases in Oakville Ontario, and Essex England, where I visit as much as possible. I thrive on travelling the world, meeting clients and building relationships to help others succeed in their own endeavours.
I have studied the Langara College, photography continuing studies program and continue to grow with the help of my peers, mentors and a huge dose of determination.

Going to college would turn out to be one of the best decisions I would ever make.

After my college instructor assisted me in gaining experience as an editorial technician at the London 2012 Olympics, I was hooked on action and sports photography. Thats when I decided, this was what I was to do. This was my career choice. It took years of practice to define my area of speciality. I now cover equestrian topics and horse sports.

What I photograph is unique.
I spend hours behind the scenes at international level shows, away from the main show ring where all the other other photographers are. This is my happy place. This is where clients know to find me. I tell the stories on behalf of the hard working team members and horses, the event organizers, the riders and the dedication that comes with it. My images are unique - detailed focused and not your typical cliche imagery. My client roster has grown to include the FEI, international riders and brands.
I have gained the trust of those I photograph by simply just being there. The more I am present, the greater the trust. I don't take that trust for granted and believe it's a privilege.

I am coming into my second year of being a full time photographer. It's going to be a big one.
The first year was spent growing my portfolio, expanding my network reach and building a solid foundation as an entrepreneur.  I covered some amazing events, which in turn got me noticed by the right people and I exceeded my goals for the year. Expenses outweigh the income for the first 2-3 years. This is expected.

This is where I need your support.

I love what I do.  Love doesn't cover the travel expenses.  As with most sports photographers, especially starting out, I have to cover my travel costs out my own pocket. I am selective with the events I cover keep my standard of work consistent.
A typical trip to Europe is $5000cad, USA $2500cad. I bundle events in each trip to help cut costs. I use AirBnB, trains and other budget cutting resources to keep my costs low. This is year I have planned at least 1 Large trip to Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and UK) - This trip alone is estimated at $5800 due to the length of stay. This includes food, travel insurance and equipment insurance.

In total, 2016 a budget of $20,000 would cover all my travel including trips where I am driving to venues (Montana, California, Washington USA, Calgary Canada). This doesn't include events where I am commissioned to cover and my expenses are paid.

Once the event is over, images are submitted, maybe some are sold. It's the risk you take. Some times, you only sell one image for $30 sometimes you sell a collection for $500. It's part of the job I signed up for!

The bigger the events I cover, the better the images I take and bigger market I reach.
My business plans for year 2 includes branching out to commercial level work, which will take me into year 3 with hopefully more capital behind me to stand on my own two feet.

Your pledge means the world to me. The funds are to be used for flights, car rentals, budget accommodation to places such as Florida, California and more so Europe where a majority of my work takes me.

+ My online schedule can be seen on my web site

Pledges allow me to confirm more events and keep pushing my creative boundaries, for more clients.
Pledges will personally and professionally recognized on my web site and social media and certain level of pledges will receive a signed print from my equestrian portfolio.

For longer term, a relationship or partnership with a brand, organization or company would be ideal.

**One long Europe trip is $5000. Not $5000 a month**

With Autumn comes eventing (often known as 3 day events, or horse trials season. This is a busy time over in Europe where the majority of the events happen. 2016 I am hoping to attend Burghley, Badminton and Blenheim. All 3 happen pretty much back to back and last year I missed the events due to lack of funds. I would also be able to attend events in Netherlands, France and Germany.
These events would greatly increase my market reach as it is a very dedicated and tight industry.

$5000.00cad will contribute to my  travel costs include flights, transfers, trains, budget accommodation, rental cars and buses.
