After 20 years of working as a writer, editor and publisher on the Internet, I've decided it's time to focus more on my "personal brand." That doesn't mean I won't continue doing all the things I do, but it does mean that [email protected] is going to move up in the rankings of things I do.

I've always worked "for" others, at least part-time, and there's nothing wrong with that. But whenever possible I like to remove intermediaries so that I work directly for, and am accountable directly to, my readers and listeners. And my preferred revenue model has always been "throw it out there for free and ask those who like it to pay me what they think it's worth." I was pleased to find that Patreon is built to facilitate exactly that revenue model. So here we are.

My current projects include the [email protected] blog, op-eds for the William Lloyd Garrison Center for Advocacy Journalism, the [email protected] Stir Podcast, and various and sundry other things.

- Your name (as registered with Patreon) on the [email protected] "Wall of Supporters" page. On request, this can be changed to the name of your company, blog, site, service, etc. and linked.
- Access to "Supporters Only" or "Supporters First" content.

- All the rewards from the $2.00 level.
- On request, your name/link on the [email protected] "Wall of Supporters" page can be replaced with a linked 400 pixels wide x 50 pixels tall banner graphic (you host). That 400x50 limit has to do with the way the blog displays graphics -- bigger than that, they tend to spill into sidebars. But it's just a scaledown of a standard 468x60 banner and that scaledown can be done at my end.

- On request, I'll do a short blog post about your site, blog, company, book, etc. and give that post a shout-out on The [email protected] Stir Podcast.
Pledge $25 or more per month

- Let me tell you a story:

A man walks into a bar, sits down, orders a beer. A few minutes later a pretty lady wearing a sexy outfit walks up, sits down next to him, leans over and whispers in his ear "I'll do anything you want for $100."

The man doesn't answer. He just sips his beer. After a couple of minutes, the lady leans over again and whispers "did you hear me, mister? For $100, I'll do anything you want."

The man, with a contemplative look, nurses his beer some more. As he lifts it to his mouth for another drink, the lady leans over and says "hey, I'm serious ... $100 ... ANYTHING you want."

The man puts down his beer, takes out his wallet, pulls out a $100 bill, hands it to her and says "paint my house."

If you're throwing $100 a month at me, I'll do anything you want. Within reason. But I suggest you confer with me about what that might be before pledging. Just sayin' ...
