Greetings!

My name is Krista Walsh, and I am a fantasy author. Since February 2014, I have published thirteen novels, with an aim to release number fourteen in Fall 2018. I love creating characters that burrow their way into readers' hearts and forging relationships that are tested by ever-increasing threats. I love throwing in spotlight-stealing secondary characters, heartwarming animal companions, and enough snark to give even the driest folks a chuckle. I've been writing since I was six years old and firmly believe that without words, I would have lost my grip on reality before I hit twenty.

While doing my best to continue producing more imagination-grabbing adventures, I am now in search of the elusive and mysterious "time".

I know it exists. Between November 2015 and October 2017, I was a full-time independent author who managed to hold on to enough minutes in a day to release six books in twenty-three months while still maintaining enough energy and sanity to be a tolerable companion to my husband and cat.

However, I eventually had to choose between my passion and the purchase of a symbolic representation of adulthood and stability for our future (i.e., a house). Being a person who is as practical as she is a dreamer, I pulled up my socks and returned to the working world. There I have been ever since.

I enjoy my job. I work with some great people, and the opportunity to get out of the house and talk to other human beings is much appreciated. My work has also inspired a whole new urban fantasy trilogy.

But as a result, Time and I have had a falling out.

Being an independent author involves more than just writing and editing. I need to wear a wide variety of hats—some more comfortable and stylish than others—in order to keep my small business going. Writing, revision, proofreading, outsourcing cover art and edits, account, website maintenance, marketing, promotion, networking, engaging with readers...the list goes on.

I would like to return to producing 2-3 books a year, a pace I find satisfies both my readers and my itch to move from one project to another while my ideas are still fresh and exciting.

I would also love to explore other avenues of production, such as translated editions, audiobooks, or limited edition hardcovers. Maybe even hit the road and meet some of my readers at conventions and signings, which has always been a dream of mine.

In order to return to this regular, consistent production schedule, I need to rebuild my rapport with finicky Time so that I can produce in a way that avoids burn-out while still ensuring the quality I aim to deliver.

More magic, more worlds, more mystery, more dragons.

Reunited with Time, I would:
  • draft, edit, and release the remaining two books of the Nayis Trilogy
  • develop, draft, and release the As-Yet-to-be-Titled urban fantasy trilogy
  • research, revise, and publish a stand-alone gothic fantasy
  • host more giveaways and live/online events
  • read more craft books to improve my skills with each new publication
  • move forward on more novels, series, and projects still percolating

Here's what's in it for you:

In return for your support, I want to give back with another passion of mine: encouraging people to go after their dreams. We live in a world where societal norms hold us back from taking the necessary risks to get what we want out of life—to achieve a certain amount of satisfaction and fulfillment. Out of personal interest, I love reading about ways to overcome those obstacles and trying them out for myself. Although "passion" is the extent of my credentials, I want to share what I learn through my own experience and those who have come before me to help others.

I also have loads of writing-related ideas I want to share with you as well, like using the community to help me develop a new set of characters that has recently walked into my head. Ever wanted to be part of the writing process from first scribblings on a napkin to final product? Now's your chance!

The level of your pledge will offer an assortment of perks, from tips and tricks to encourage you to go after your passions to exclusive writings from the desk of Krista Walsh to signed paperback copies. There is also room to add more fun perks as we go.

I love the idea of using this platform to build a community of mutual support and encouragement, dreamchasing and self-expression. Hopefully here we can help each other move forward.
