Kumtuks is the Chinook Wawa word for “knowledge”.

This Account was created to educate British Columbians about history, policy and general knowledge. A group of concerned British Columbians came together convinced that we need to do a better job of educating young people about these issues in a format that is convenient to them. Any funds raised will be used to create videos to educate young people and involve them in the creation process.

Kumtuks commits to publishing at least one video per month. A number of videos have already been published on the Kumtuks Channel and many more are needed to bring knowledge and balance to public discourse. Kumtuks would like to commission younger people to create their own content.

The Kumtuks Project is based in British Columbia and features videos and articles that educate the public about its history, public policy, and general knowledge.

Kumtuks supports ‘Explanatory Journalism’ about issues related to British Columbia. It encourages understanding and respect of our history and of the importance of economic analysis to achieve a prosperous province.
This initiative seeks to honour the multicultural, secular, socially and environmentally responsible ethic that was part of the pre-colonial governance of proto-British Columbia.

The Kumtuks Project was initiated by the Global Civic Policy Society to further its founding goals of increasing public understanding of Canadian institutions and history and an appreciation of the importance of economics in social policy.
