Welcome to my Patreon page! First of all, thank you for taking the time to learn more about who I am and the work that I do. My name is Kyle Weslie Schlenz, and I am an independent photojournalist in the city of Des Moines, Iowa.  I have also done work in other cities, including Chicago, South Bend, and Indianapolis.

I photograph events in Des Moines and and share my finished photographs in print and on social media. I focus on partnering with with nonprofit organizations, all-ages venues, and other positive events such as local bike rides and neighborhood clean-up days. The photographs I create for public events are celebrations of good work and the people who accomplish it, and they are free for personal use or for future promotional purposes through a Creative Commons license. I do not charge a traditional contractor's fee for the content that I produce for public events, but rather raise money through donations and selling prints.

My work is completely self-funded from my own personal resources and charitable donations. This includes not only my time, but also equipment, transportation, and publishing costs. Whether you are a personal friend, have benefited from the work I have created in the past, or simply wish to support independent photojournalism, this Patreon campaign is a unique avenue to become involved. This is how it works: supporters sign up to make a recurring donation each month to fund my ongoing work. Donations can be as little as a dollar a month; patrons may contribute by credit/debit card or through Paypal. For more information, please visit full Patreon's FAQ page, located here:

Both patrons and non-patrons may continue to suggest events for future coverage, so long as they are open to the public.

The more funds are raised, the more time I will be able to devote to covering public events, editing photographs, writing articles, and publishing my work. My future goals include adding full 4K video, maintaining a dedicated website, publishing a quarterly zine, and offering public workshops to those wishing to learn more about the craft of photojournalism.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you again!
