About

Hello x

I'm Laura Carbone, I'm an artist, I made the Empty Sea and am currently flattening the curve in Berlin, Germany.
My band and I were in the middle of the pre-production for my 3rd album when the Corona news and situation hit, making me change and adapt our plans and approach to these new surroundings that keep on changing daily.
I decided to embrace this "new normal" some time ago, finding a way to digitally create and release bits and pieces of the work we're doing and I would like to share my journey with you.

I would like to create a safe environment to share the ups-&-downs and to actively find the silver linings in this mess we're in. To me it's essential to embrace this new period with a lot of kindness and compassion towards ourselves but more - towards our neighbors, friends and the people that are in need of a digital hug these days. And trust me, I'm one of these people, too.

I decided to use Patreon as it provides a safe space and community - being an artist and dedicating your life to art always brings risks - we all know this and it's also a price we pay for being privileged to live the life I'm living with all its blessings and curses.
The reality is I also need your contribution in order to keep on creating, channeling and not being occupied by financial worries.

I'm looking forward to trying out new things - and am grateful to share my first experiment with you: The podcast "What it takes to create a record".

A podcast where everyone involved in our “Live at Rockpalast” album is given the opportunity to share how their energy and unique talents helped breathe life into the album. The podcast includes conversations with my band members, mixing engineer Scott von Ryper (The Jesus and Mary Chain), mastering engineer Philipp Welsing and my visual partner in crime Olya Dyer (The Underground Youth).

I also started writing down my thoughts and impressions from our North American Tour adventure which became a visual diary.

I'm grateful I can offer you free downloads and a glimpse in to my works in progress and demos.

I also see this as an opportunity to shift fear into courage and distance into community.
I'm open for suggestions and wishes in order to create something we all benefit from, so please feel free to share your thoughts and feedback with me.

My love to you wherever you're experiencing this crisis.

We're in this together,
and I wish for us
to proactively dream and act
for a healthier tomorrow.

x Laura

I do sense the deep wish to go live on this platform very soon, to connect a little more and I would like to fulfil this wish as soon as we hit the 100 Patreon mark.
I can imagine having a little private set of 3-5 songs, maybe on a Sunday? Maybe in nature, maybe cozy in my room?
Your suggestions and wishes are of course welcome!
It’ll be the first time I’m doing a live online session and trust me - it’s another act of bravery and I already have goosebumps of “ahhh” thinking about this.
