- Access to a monthly flash fiction challenge, based on prompts posted on my patron only feed.
- The opportunity to have your piece of flash fiction edited to a professional standard and published on my patron only feed. (One entry selected for editing each month).
(Plus, all the benefits of the Christie tier.)
- An invitation to take part in my monthly Q and A live chat, right here on Patreon, where you can ask me any manner of question that pops into your head and I'll endeavour to answer them.
These can be on any topic, but I'm more likely to be able to answer questions relating to writing, self-publishing and the things I've researched. (I don't, for example, have any idea how cold fusion works, or any strong opinions about Led Zeppelin).

I’ve written and self-published several books in recent years, along with the anthologies I’ve helped create and curate, and my first play debuted in April 2018. Perhaps you've come across one or two of my scribblings! I also run the occasional writing course and help lead drama sessions for our local theatre club. For me, creativity is about being able to share with people and give back the joys I've got from reading over the years.
I love writing - if I could, that's all I'd do all day - and I'm thrilled that you've found my Patreon page and are interested in joining my mad little world! They say it takes a village to raise a child, and that's no different when it comes to creative projects like these. If you choose to join my fan community you'll have access to a range of exclusive content, including regular(ish) videos where I talk about my writing, self-publishing and the weird things I find myself researching, along with the occasional read-through and sneak peek into the projects I'm currently working on. You can also take part in a monthly Q and A live chat, get a letter from my characters, access a whole calendar full of prompts, have me look at the first page of your WIP or even get a first look at the final drafts of my future writing projects - before publication!
So, who am I again?
I’d like to say that my writing adventures began when I quit my ‘real’ job, but the truth is far less interesting - though I was an archaeologist for a few years! These days I work two jobs, as a freelance proof reader and ghost writer, and as an author, writing my own stuff whenever I get a few moments spare. I suppose curating the anthologies for the short story club I manage would probably count as a third job, albeit a voluntary one. Add that to the self-publishing and I guess that makes four - though I only get paid for one!
And therein - as they say - lies the rub.
I revel in the creative freedom self-publishing allows, but it ain’t what I’d call lucrative. With this in mind I’m hoping to generate a few pennies so that I can keep scribbling and putting out books to a professional standard. The aim is to make enough that I can spend more time writing than working, eventually. I can’t imagine a life without writing, so I’ll keep at it no matter what, just much more slowly.
I’m currently working on The Heart of Magic, sequel to my gentle fantasy thriller, The House of Vines, along with The Last Human Getaway, a bit of a whimsical romp through Scottish mythology, and a contemporary crime series with a paranatural twist.
Thanks ever so much for dropping by - whatever you decide!
