About lazyadmin

Who Am I?

Hi, I am Ruud. I live in the Netherlands and work as a SysAdmin with more than 15 years of experience. Every day I try to keep 150 users happy, automate as much as possible with PowerShell, Microsoft Flow and PDQ Deploy. Besides that, I spend some time developing web-based business applications. Besides my work, I write on my own blog

In 2016 I started blogging on this website. The reason was to share my IT knowledge with others. I wanted to share scripts that I created or the solution to the problems that took me forever to solve. In 2018 I also started writing more about my Smart Home.
Every day more than 3000 users read the articles on this site, creating over 4000 pageviews per day. 90% of the traffic is organic from Google.

Why a Patreon Account? is becoming more of a part-time job since 2018. I started working less for a boss to focus more on writing. I regularly reply to tech support mail, go through each question that is posted on the website and try to answer them all.

I really like to help others to learn how to optimize their home network, start with PowerShell or Microsoft Flow or just to share my knowledge about any IT related topic.

Why support LazyAdmin on Patreon? is growing rapidly to 100.000 visitors a month. I have ads on the site, but a lot of users are blocking ads these days, which I understand, but it results in less income. To keep writing an helping other with tech-related questions I need some form of income from it. Just like you, I have to pay the bills.

Where is the money used for:
  1. Hosting, 100.000 visitors a month need a big hosting plan.
  2. CDN bandwidth - A large site like this needs a CDN to serve the static content fast. Also bigger sites get a lot of attention from hackers, a web application firewall is needed as well.
  3. Office 365 license - I write a lot about Office 365. To keep my knowledge up-to-date and test everything I write about I have multiple Office 365 licenses.
  4. Me - I started working less to spend more time on LazyAdmin. I don't need to earn a living from it, but I have two kids to feed and a house to pay as well ;)
If you want to make a one-time donation or don't want to use Patreon, please use my PayPal address
