I'm Brie Sheldon, and I'm the creator of Leading with Class. Leading with Class is a webshow teaching leadership theory and practice, using experiences and concepts from roleplaying games to make leadership more approachable to a broader audience.

This show is a project focused on making valuable skills more accessible to those who may not be able to reach them otherwise, or who would benefit from a framing beyond the current academic and technical structure. As the creator, I will be working hard to provide up-to-date information on current theory and practice while I give background information on the roots of leadership and its theory. I want to use games as supporting guidance for the project because games help me understand leadership, and I think they'll help you, too.

I'm an experienced administrative professional and a graduate of leadership studies. I'm also a professional game designer and have worked on a number of projects including my own like Let Me Take a Selfie and other major projects like the Firefly Smuggler's Guide to the Rim. My blog, Thoughty, contains over 150 interviews of game designers, players, and creators alongside my own design work and theory, and has been supported by a successful Patreon since 2014. I am prepared to run another great project with Leading with Class using my expertise and my experience, as well as my real passion for leadership and games both.

Joining me in my work will be my producer and editor, John Sheldon, who is the technical brains behind the videos and graphics. He worked in a newsroom while serving in Iraq, and has a graduate degree in media arts and technology. He's also a game designer and illustrator, and a leader himself. His skill and knowledge is vital to the success of the project, and he is enthusiastic to make Leading with Class a real thing.

We plan to release videos every other week for a planned 12 video series, and hopefully move forward to the next series - there is no real limit to the possibilities of exploring leadership, games, intersections of those, and their surrounding ideas. The videos will be four to eight minutes long, written and presented by me, and technically managed by John. I'll be using resources from my own education in leadership, but also sourcing new information through research and connections with colleagues.

While I am disabled, that only makes me as likely as any abled person to potentially need breaks and have possible schedule changes. I will keep my patrons aware of what's happening as needed. Leading with Class is a priority for me, and I don't want to let the project, my patrons, or myself down by failing to communicate if something changes.

With my disability in mind, I care about diversity and inclusivity in leadership and in games. I am a queer, genderfluid nonbinary-masc person and I want to break away from some of what I have been taught that focused solely on a white, cisgender, straight, abled perspective. That involves acknowledging that some styles and theories of leadership just aren't okay, and that the Western, white perspective on organizations and leadership isn't the whole story. I'll be doing research, and hopefully working with consultants, to find out how to better represent this view as the show proceeds - with your support.

And that is what I would love: to do all of these things with your support. Leading with Class is my dream come true - to combine games and leadership, two things I care about very much, and teach about them with a lens of inclusive and diverse representation and an approachable and interesting framing. Please be a part of this project, and join me in Leading with Class.
