My Legends of Localization series takes a detailed look at video game translation and how games change during the translation process.

You know how the news media gets things hilariously wrong whenever they talk about video games, science, or the Internet? The same thing happens when general audiences talk about translation and localization. Because of this, I thought it’d be neat to use my professional experience to take a deeper look into how certain games have been translated.

Stats:
Legends of Localization started as a website in 2011 with articles and videos comparing the translations of my favorite games to the original Japanese. Since 2015, I've published five books with Fangamer, each going into much deeper detail than what's found on the website. I also stream on Twitch every so often with a focus on translation and localization changes.

Why Patreon?
I'm always juggling multiple projects, many of which aren't ready to be publicly announced. Patreon is the perfect place to share photos, screenshots, and other general updates from these mystery projects. This is also where I'll share scans, photos, and summaries from my stockpile of Japanese gaming materials from the 80s and 90s.

Where's the money going?
Your Patreon pledge will help pay server costs and license fees. It will also help me get more research materials from around the world - things like old game magazines, books, and unusual merchandise. I'd also eventually like to hire guests writers within the industry to write articles about their own experiences.

Basically, your pledge will help me keep doing what I do now - but even better!
