About

Let's Know Things is a news analysis podcast focused on context and nuance.

Each week, I (Colin Wright) choose a news item and unspool it, explaining what's happening, why, and the broader context in which it's taking place.

After a bit of experimentation with sponsorship early on, I decided to make the podcast ad-free. Your patronage is what allows me to commit the time that I do to this show each week, and I could not be happier to know that there are people who find enough value in what I'm doing here to contribute to its perpetuation.

If you're enjoying the show, consider contributing whatever makes sense for you and your financial situation.

Contributing at any level will give you access to a call to action-free version of the show (that's the part at the beginning and end of an episode where I ask for reviews and for listeners to become patrons), and an additional bonus episode each month.

Thank you very much for your patronage and enthusiasm: both mean the world to me.

FAQ

How do I get the call to action-free version of the show, and the monthly bonus episodes?

Subscribe to the Patron-version of the podcast to access those bonuses—instructions on doing so, here.

Are there other bonuses if I contribute more each month?

I'm currently sending postcards to folks who are contributing $10/month or more, and I'll likely evolve that over time, trying different things.

I find that a lot of the people who are contributing at higher levels, currently, are doing so because they find value in the show and want to support it however they can, which is wonderful and humbling.

That said, this Patreon account is a work in progress and I'm very open to ideas as to how I can make things more useful and appealing to folks who are enjoying the show and who would like to support it.

Beyond the podcast, what online infrastructure do you have in place for LKT?

I've got a weekly email containing links to interesting things, and I have social media accounts—the most useful of which, to existing listeners, would probably be on Twitter where I tweet out articles on topics I've previously covered on the show.

Where can I subscribe to the podcast?

Wherever you currently get your podcasts (and here's a list of links if you don't already have a favorite podcast app).

What even is a podcast, though? Can you help me understand the concept and explain how I get started?

So glad you asked.

Where can I find show notes & transcripts for Let's Know Things episodes?

Show notes are available for all episodes of the show at the LKT website, and transcripts are available for all recent episodes (and I'll eventually find the time to go back and add them to earlier episodes, as well).

Who are you, host of this show?

I'm Colin Wright, an author who is totally geeking out about the fact that I get to make this podcast as part of what I do for a living.

Learn more about me, check out a list of my books, or say howdy on social media (TwitterInstagramFacebook).

I have another question, will you answer it?

Absolutely. Send me a message here on Patreon, or via email at [email protected]. I'm happy to tell you whatever I can :)
Goals
200 - reached! patrons
At 200 patrons, I'll begin to produce an extra episode each month, available for free, exclusively to Patreon patrons.

This has been the most requested feature overall—just producing more episodes—and it'll be nice to have the excuse to start in on it :)
