Hi! My name is Lindsay Partain and I am a playwright.

I'm an Oregonian which means that I'm a tap water snob and a little hairy.

I take far too many photos of my kitty cats, C.S. Waffles and Button NubNubs. Yes, those are their real names.

I started writing short stories when I was little but play writing is a love I discovered in 2014. Since then my pieces have been chosen for festivals across the country; from Oregon, to Washington, Colorado, Ohio, New York, California, and most recently, Florida! My piece Prayers in the Pines was published in STAGE IT 2! Thirty 10-Minute Plays and was chosen by Centers for the Arts in Bonita Springs to be produced in 2019. If you'll be in New York City August 17th-19th you can catch my pieces Shimmers and Prayers in the Pines at the John DeSotelle Studio as part of their Summer Dreams Festival.

When it comes to what I write about or who I write for, I write women. Strong, confident, hilarious, sexual, ridiculous, amazing women. Women who have relationships and talk about them- but not as if it's the center of their whole existence. Women who have sex. Who fight. Who EAT. Women who love themselves and go on adventures. Young women who aspire to be something bright and shiny- and women who doubt their ability to continue existing at all. I write roles for women that I would want. That I want to see my friends play. Roles that I wish I had seen more of when I was growing up.

I love writing ghost stories and stuffing my plays with magic--I can just hear the designers mumbling as they read through my script-- "I have to make a hundred thousand stars come out of this kid's pocket by the end of this scene? Do we have a star budget?"

I write because it is my bean and bacon soul soup. I write because art is my way of giving back to a community who deserve more than a no-name female character who fusses over her husband. I write because art makes us smarter, it makes us more relateable, it helps us better understand what we are capable of, and inspires us to continue growing.

Thank you so much for supporting me in my journey to make the world a little more magical.
