(I may have stolen one of the lines up there.)

So here I am, on the raggedy edge of the cloud, so to speak, making my way, plying my trade, putting my shingle out front, slinging metaphors like my pockets are full of 'em!

We believe it normal for anyone who works their Day Job (as I do as well) to "make a living," but we don't give people who create, work in the arts, the ability to make that living unless they Hit It Big! Have that big sale! Get famous!

Why is that? Why have we stopped allowing people who work hard at occupations that have existed since the dawn of human culture -- the so-called arts -- to make a living without having to make The Big Time?

Well, this is where YOU come in, my dear appreciators of hard work in creative fields! Short(er) and sweet: Be a patron of an artist as he's growing his alternate career, striking out and crafting words for enjoyment and maybe some provoking of thought, and know you're participating in a long, honored tradition of giving coin to someone trying to add a little something nice to spruce the world up a bit.

"Yeah, but who are ya?!"
Chances are, if you're on this page, you probably already know a little something about me. (If you browse Patreon to find people you don't know to support? You, good person, are a saint!) But, if not, or you want to know more before you allocate some of those coins, check out my website for more information on who I am and my work so far: www.tragic-sans.com.

"Wait, did you say free stories?"
No, but you want some? To see what I do? Go to the Fiction page of my website: tragic-sans.com/stories to find a list of my works and links to where you can buy, or just grab, some of my stories.

Now, as for the what and the how of your patronage:
To earn my keep as a writer to be patronized (. . . uhm, wait . . . yeah, nevermind), in addition to writing novels (working on the one that earns that plural noun) and selling them on places like Amazon, I'm going to work on putting out more short fiction for sale, and you will get those as a patron -- all the finished ones.

The stories that you're supporting will likely come 1 a month, though maybe as many as 2 or 3 a month. Sadly, some times, maybe a month gets skipped altogether as I'm really focusing on my novel: the sequel to Singularity Deferred (or whatever comes after that).

"Whoa! Per story? Not, per month? What are you, a weirdo?"
Well, yes I am, but that's beside the point. I realize a lot of creators here, writers particularly, ask for patronage on a monthly basis. Well, I seriously considered that; but, since my output can be sporadic depending on how in depth my novel work, and life, are, I thought it would actually be more fair to you to pay for what actually gets produced!

Like I said, it should generally be 1 story a month anyway, maybe 2. But if you're afraid I might suddenly burst out with a ton of stories in a month, if you're on a budget, I heavily encourage you to go ahead and set that maximum payout per month option. It's cool! I totally get it.

But in this way you will be contributing to actual work and product, regardless of how involved and in depth I am at the moment with my other endeavors.

You get content, product, and I get support!

And most important of all: Thank you!! From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Oh, 2 bits of business:

Meet me?
Some people like this thing where you get to "meet" the author online... a Skype or a Google Hangout or "lunch with"... if that's something you'd be interested in, please let me know and I'll consider adding those to a reward level!

Cheaters!
I guess it's a thing where some terrible people pledge long enough to get something cool, then cancel right before the 1st of the month. Things like that make Pop-Tart Kittehs cry!
So, necessary disclaimer:
To get any reward that involves printed and mailed material, you will need to have been a Patron at that level for at least one payment. Sorry to have to say that. I know 99.9% of you cats and kittens are aces and I love ya!!
