Life After Fat is a new comedy-drama web series filmed in New York City, focusing on Maddie, a 24 year old thrift store employee who loses 90 lbs over the course of a year. For the first time in her life, she feels noticed, and attractive, which ends up being far more complicated than she thought. But the more things fall apart, the closer she is to finding her true self worth.

Life After Fat isn’t about how inspiring it is to drop a lot of weight, nor is it a message for everyone to love themselves exactly as they are. Instead, it’s an exploration of the changes we make and why we make them, as much as it is a statement on the oftentimes laughable madness that is being a severely confused 20-something living in a massive city.

SOUNDS GREAT! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE SO FAR AND WHAT DO YOU NEED?

Using our own funds, we recruited a talented cast and crew and successfully created our pilot episode, which you can watch below. After raising $3,729 through a past Indiegogo campaign, we're planning on shooting five more episodes, to be released in the spring.

But we’ll need your help and to continue to produce more episodes of Life After Fat. Through your contributions, we will be able to:
  • Book locations and purchase the permits and insurance we need.
  • Rent professional level equipment to complement the equipment we used to create the pilot episode.
  • Rent or buy props, wardrobe, and makeup for use in the web series.
  • Pay the cast and crew for their time and work.
  • Rent vehicles to transport our cast, crew, and equipment.
  • Pay for entry fees for upcoming film/web series/television festivals.
  • Last but not least, make sure our cast and crew is well-fed with healthy foods, drinks and the best coffee we can afford.

WHO ARE THE CREATORS BEHIND THIS WEB SERIES?

The web series was written and created by Julia Pugachevsky, a graduate from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts who has written numerous past works, including articles for BuzzFeed, Flavorpill, TriBeCa Film Festival and xoJane. Director Jason Hood comes to the series with over seven years of work ranging from music videos, short films, and other web series. His latest music video for the Agent Ribbons song “Jamaica and the Wishing Shrine”, was screened at the Coney Island Film Festival. The series is produced and edited by Will Patterson, a frequent collaborator and producer of Jason’s past work for almost six years. The crew is rounded out by our experienced director of photography Justin Khan, and the skilled production design team of Linda Saffioti and Celine Laheurte, who share over twenty years of art and multimedia experience between them.
