Yá'át'ééh (hello)

My name is Allen Salway (he/him) but many of you know me as lilnativeboy. I am a 20-year-old Diné, Oglala Lakota, Tohono O'odham writer /activist /community organizer from the eastern part of the Navajo Nation in New Mexico. Currently going to College & majoring in American Indian Studies, hoping to pursue Tribal Law at the University of Arizona and eventually my goal is to teach American Indian Studies at a University.

I published my first article this year with Teen Vogue then my second with PAPER MAGAZINE and plan to do more writing on my own with this platform Patreon (a place to support your favorite creators and get access to exclusive content). Writing for me is being able to express my identity as a mixed openly gay Native "American" & a way to share my resistance with others who are willing to listen but keep in mind all my platforms will remain the same this is for those who are able to support me and who want more content/perks. I have been featured in the Washington Post, Huffington Post, New York Times, Distractify, Revelist & more.

My work has also been taught in Universities by professors all across America & I was listed #2 in Mel Magazines '5 Men of Color accounts You Should Be Following on Instagram'. I am also am an ambassador for DigDeep, my most recent project with them was a raffle campaign for Indigenous Peoples Day that raised over $50,000+ which was enough for four whole families to receive running water & electricity in their homes who have never had it before. Most importantly I am trying to be the role model I needed when I was younger not just for me but for my community. Coming where I come from I was never supposed to make it this far or have a voice this big and for that I am truly thankful for everyone who has ever supported me to get me where I am today.

Why should I support you?

Well for those who are able, supporting me is a great way to support Native voices & community organizers in general. I use my platform to not only give endless amounts of free education that’s not taught in Ivy League Universities, but to also support/boost those who need it as well as doing projects that give back to my community. Supporting me also supports my stability to be able to live & write + do more of what I am passionate about which is helping not only my Nation but Indigenous people in general.

I have heart issues as well as cariogenic syncope (a sudden drop in heart rate that causes me to faint that can be triggered or occur randomly) and some skin conditions (and who knows what other health issues that lie ahead as I get older). These are all due to drinking uranium filled water while growing up on the reservation. In the state of Arizona working a minimum wage job disqualifies me for AHCCCS (Medicaid) and each time I visited the emergency room after I fainted (I would usually hit my head & have seizures) my bill is always more than $3,000.

I also am unable to receive therapy unless I pay out of pocket which for me is extremely important because I do suffer from depression, anxiety, body dysmorphia, PTSD and paranoia all that I would like to explain and have conversations about in future posts. Supporting me is also supports my education, being a Native college student 8 hours away from home and my main support system isn't easy but I have no other choice. Supporting me also supports my family back home, even though I struggle myself financially, my mother struggles even more and I try support her as much as I can.

What do I get in return?

Depending on which tier you select I will be creating educational essays filled with reliable resources with a spectrum of topics that include race, sexuality & mental health. Not only that but the recourses I provide should be used as tools and help you expand your knowledge about Indigenous issues & Decolonization. I will also be sharing short stories from reservation life to teachings that I have learned as an Indigenous person that I want to share as well as any forms of media that I believe anyone could benefit from. I will also be offering different types of services like monthly book reviews, playlists, personal essays based on questions you asked & personal interviews (could be used for homework help or just a way to pick my brain). You will also get early access to any projects I am working on as well as direct input on the content I will be creating & be apart of open discussions. I will be adding more tier benefits as I grow.

Where does my money go?

As stated before I do have health issues & am a college student living on my own away from home so your money will not only go to basic needs such as food, gas & bills but to future projects as well like a podcast (I'm hoping to start sometime next year when able). But it doesn't stop there this also supports my access to therapy and being able to help my whole family out and just making this Native boys life less stressful & more stable while trying to navigate this settler society. I also began writing a book over the summer and will need the resources to be able to turn it into an actual physical copy to be able to share. I will also be needing a new computer soon in order to keep creating content and for school so your money will be put to good use & know that you are also helping me build a better, brighter future for myself.

Of course if you cannot support me on this platform that is totally fine everything on my Twitter & Instagram will remain the same or if a one time donation is more your thing feel free to check out my linktree which has my PayPal, Venmo, & Cash app + my Link tree is filled with resources to find out whose land you are on, links to support Native women, Students, Youth & other Native creators + more.

For those who are able your support will help me have some stability in my life & be able to hopefully do this full time and expand tier benefits as I grow as well as fund future projects that I want to pursue. Thank you so much in advance for even considering supporting me in any of the ways listed it means so much! :')
