Living in the desert is like lying down on a spiritual operating table- the sun, God's unrelenting surgical lamp. I'm Lindsey. In the summer of 2016 I moved to a remote 5 acre plot of desert with no water or electricity- it was what I could afford. I set about creating an earth dome-laden free art haven; a place where I could host a diverse company of artists while expanding my skills in large-format sculpture, earthworks, carpentry, music, permaculture, and junk art. The dream has sprouted. The first dome is complete, a cabin erected, a cozy 1975 Winnebago that opens to a sky of endless stars. Wonder Domes will begin hosting artists this Fall. In the meantime, I live here. I build things, I walk for miles in search of beautiful trash, I navigate a variety of friendships and love affairs, carouse with like-minded outcasts, and regularly confront my own dysfunction. But living off-grid in one of the harshest climates on earth isn't as charming as many well-meaning folks tend to make it look on Instagram. I've created this Patreon as a way of documenting the darker musings, antique litter, wild encounters, secret hikes... the underbelly of life in a forgotten place. Proceeds from this account keep Wonder Domes a free place for artists to retreat and create in the harsh beauty of a place that remains wild. Won't you join the fun?
