  • Hot Seat Critiques. Have you submitted in the past? We go back through old submissions and live-read/critique as much as we can in twenty minutes once a month. Even if you haven't submitted, listening to critiques of other people's work can help you know what to do with your own!
  • Live question and answer sessions every six months, so get those questions ready!
  • Early access to all episodes. As soon as they're done, we'll post 'em.

We're going to host a writing group!
  • Once a month, you can submit your chapter (up to 2500 words) to [email protected] with WRITING GROUP in the subject line. We'll choose two patrons’ submissions to critique per month (making sure everyone gets a chance over time!), post them here on Patreon, then host a writing group via Zoom with at least one member of the Lit Service crew.
  • You’ll get a Hot Seat Critique response to your monthly submission if it’s not featured in one of the two writing group slots.

About Lit Service Podcast

Lit Service is a podcast geared toward helping writers learn their craft and learn about the publishing world. We specifically focus on querying authors, providing feedback on submission materials like first chapters and, occasionally, queries. So often when we fail in the publishing industry, especially down in the query trenches, we don't know why. What are we doing wrong and why won't you just tell us so we can get better. Professional feedback can go a long way in helping aspiring writers get from the slushpile into an agents hands, which is why we do what we do.

We'd love for Lit Service to be able to grow--to have higher quality recordings and better outreach, both in person and online. The funds we raise here will go toward hiring a sound designer and paying our poor, overworked social media assistant. In the future we'd like to save up for better equipment, do higher quality videos, and be able to travel to conferences more frequently (conferences are how we persuade higher profile guests to come on the show to critique your work!).

Whether you just want to say thank you or you want access to some cool rewards, this Patreon is for you.

Goals
5 of 30 patrons
We're saving up money for better equipment and for an editor to help with our sound. When we reach 30 patrons, we'll be set (and might even be able to do more episodes!)
