Decorate your laptop, binder or day planner with it and everyone will know you support the literary community here in Los Angeles. Because you're awesome.
In addition to having your name listed on the website and getting a sweet LitWeekLA sticker, Chapter Champions get access to the LitWeekLA updates before anyone else. See posts the minute I finish compiling them and be the first to know what's happening in the Los Angeles literary scene.
Book Boosters get:
- Their name listed on the site as a supporter
- The super-cool LitWeekLA sticker
- Early access to weekly posts
- A special shout-out in the body of the LitWeekLA post, thanking them for being a supporter of the literary community here in LA.
The challenge for authors is how to get the word out about their readings. At the same time, there's no easy way for readers to keep track of when their favorite authors are speaking. It's a big city, after all.
LitWeekLA seeks to connect authors with their readers, while supporting the independent book stores that host events and keep the heart of literary Los Angeles beating.
It's a labor of love and will always be free, but it does cost money and time to produce it (I'll outline the nitty gritties below for anyone who's interested in the breakdown). So... Patreon.
If you are a part of this community, and have the means to contribute, please consider doing so. Donations support your fellow book-lovers across the LA basin. Because there's no city like Los Angeles.
Thank you so much,
(creator of LitWeekLA)
The Financial Breakdown
My Patreon goal is to cover my expenses, including an hourly wage for the work I put into it. At 4 hours a week, that's 16 hours a month. At $18 an hour that's $288 a month. Add in hosting expenses and a few hours here and there paid to my awesome (but not cheap) coder, and my total operating costs come to approximately $350 a month.
Thank you so much for your support.
