About Loot The Room

Once a month I'll write a small roleplaying game or a pamphlet adventure supplement. It'll fit on an A4 piece of paper that may or may not be designed to be folded into a pamphlet (that's why I called them pamphlet adventures. You following?). Very occasionally it will be a full 20-something page zine, when the mood takes me. Sometimes I'll use stock art, sometimes I'll do doodles or create illustrations of some kind myself (these probably won't be good). I'll do the layout myself. You'll get a copy in PDF before it goes on sale to the general public, and if you support at the higher tier you'll get a print copy physically posted to you. You'll also get a discount code for the Loot The Room print store.

WHO AM I?
I'm Chris Bissette. I wrote The Wretched, Go Alone, and Under The Floorboards. I sometimes write D&D stuff, and I've written things for The Gauntlet and Onyx Path. A couple of years ago I picked up an ENnie nomination for my blog Loot The Room, somehow. I'm pretty good at what I do.

WHY PATREON?
It's somewhere to put the small ideas I have in between larger projects (right now I'm writing a science fantasy RPG called Star Crawl - ask me about it!). When I write these things I tend to make them free on itchio - but free doesn't pay my bills, or help me to transition to doing game design full time. With your support here, maybe I can make that happen.

WHAT DO YOU GET (WHEN YOU FALL IN LOVE)?
All these games will be published on itch and Loot The Room, so even if you don't support me here you'll still be able to buy them. Patrons will get them at least a week earlier than everyone else. You'll also get to help decide what I write each month.

Every month I'll do a small print run of each game. If you're supporting at that tier, you'll get a signed, numbered copy shipped to you, anywhere in the world. It might even have bonus stuff on in that nobody else gets to see (though there's no promises there).

Patrons also get a 15% discount off all my other games on Itch and £5 off physical games in my web store.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
My catalogue of small games is short but growing. You can see them all here. They include such INSTANT CLASSICS as:
  • The Wretched, a solo journalling game about being stranded on a broken down spaceship that spawned the Wretched & Alone system
  • The Hunted, a Forged in the Dark folk horror storytelling game where you create legends about the creature hunting you
  • Loot Goons, a hack of Nate Treme's tunnel Goons about picking up junk you find in dusty old places and killing things with it
  • Chicken And Chips, an existential road-trip game about being drunk in the back of a taxi and really wanting a kebab
  • Whalesong, a game for two players about grief and space whales
  • Scare School, a one page game that is definitely not infringing on Aahhh!!! Real Monsters in any way
  • Scavenge, Inc., a dungeon-crawling hack of Lasers & Feelings
  • FREELANCE, where you argue with your friends about whether or not they should pay you.
  • Exit, Pursued by a Bear, in which you play Jenga and try not to get eaten by a bear.
  • At The Ace Hotel, a solo journalling game based on Bon Iver's 22, A Million
If you'll allow me a moment of ego: I'm a good writer, I have great ideas, and I execute them well. You can expect short, solid games that run the gamut from silly to scary to heartbreaking. I put passion into my work, and it shows. I'll never make the same game twice, so you can expect something new and exciting every month.
Goals
$344.70 of $685 per game
Games released while we're above £500/game in funding will be Pay What You Want on itchio.
