About Monique Attinger, Certified Holistic Nutritionist
I love what I do. Truly. Helping people reduce their oxalate intake and get healthy is a passion for me.I started on this road for my daughter. She was just 2 1/2 when her oxalate issue was diagnosed and I didn't want her to eat a "special" diet alone. As I started eating low oxalate with her, I realized how the diet was helping me! And then I also realized it was helping my son. The dominoes just kept dropping, as I stumbled into information on the wide-ranging impacts of oxalate, and how many people could be suffering with health issues driven by this plant toxin - and yet, no one seemed to know!
This experience started me on the road to becoming a nutritionist. With that goal under my belt, I'm committed to getting the word out! I will also work with clients, to help them apply the low oxalate diet in a way that lets them thrive, and not just survive .
Could a low oxalate diet be something that would help you?
Here's the challenge: the impact of oxalate is largely unrecognized in the medical community. Frankly, if you don't have kidney stones, you won't be diagnosed with an oxalate issue. As a result, I fumbled my way through, stumbling into what worked and what didn't. One of the biggest difficulties is how to apply the diet, including reducing oxalate intake as well as how to eat good, nutritious, tasty food while staying low oxalate. But there's also the difficulty of how to gain an understanding about how oxalate might be affecting you - and those you love.
So here’s my question: what if you and I become partners in this work?
What your subscription to my Patreon site does is allow me to have time to connect the dots between research and real life - because that's where the benefits are. I become your "information aggregator" - a fancy way of saying that I help you to understand the big picture.
As a Level 1 Patron -- You will get short, easy to read posts including topical and interesting oxalate or health information that’s caught my eye, with low oxalate tips and tricks, plus recipe hacks. Wondering what to do about a favourite high oxalate ingredient in your current recipes? There’s a substitution for that! I'll share pictures of the the kinds of meals and dishes we do at my house, post on products we buy, or share great ideas from fellow members, to help you with application of the diet.
This is straightforward, practical advice for those who aren't interested in more complex meal planning. You will learn about health and oxalate and how to substitute ingredients.
As a Level 2 Patron -- You will get all the information provided to our Patrons in the first level, with the added benefit of complete 2-day (and sometimes 3-day) meal plans. This level aims to help those who are also dealing with more complex dietary situations or who want help to make great food that's low oxalate and where all the numbers have been worked out for them.
The monthly meal plan will cover breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snacks as appropriate with all the corresponding recipes. This is not food you will have to apologize for! We will be looking at many of the common therapeutic diets and how you do that and stay low oxalate at the same time. Don't be put off by fancy exclusions - many meal plans will work for anyone, even if you don’t have the specific issue, intolerance or allergy that's being covered. The idea will be to expand your food horizons.
As a Level 3 Patron -- You will get all the information provided to our partners in the second level, with added in-depth research articles and video presentations. This level aims to help those who are also dealing with more complex dietary situations, but also those who want to learn more about how all the pieces fit together. Let's say that this level will both appeal to those who like to watch and listen in order to learn, as well as those who want to read about the how and why of what they are doing.
I look forward to you joining me. 😃
