I am going to keep the sob story short, but I want you to know it so you know how much even a single dollar means to me.  I have been diabetic since I was 5 (I am 31 now) and started suffering complications 5 years ago.  I lost most of my vision 4 years ago, my kidneys last year, and my left foot last Christmas.  Because of the complications, I am unable to get a normal job.  (Trust me, sitting on your arse 24/7 is NOT as fun as you'd think it was.  I'd rather be working).  The government keeps me alive with a meager SSI check every month, and I make it work, but I don't get to have extras like a fast food meal, or soda, or things like that.

The one thing I love in life, oddly enough, is programming.  It's one of those things I would do (and have happily done) for free, because I like it.  However, earning money from it would be cool.  I do not have a college degree, so my talents largely go unnoticed.

Now, I don't want you to pledge because of my sob story.  Everyone has a sob story.  Mine just sucks a little bit more.  I want you to pledge because you enjoy my mods.  I tell you my sob story so you know how much $1 means to me.  A few $1 pledges means I can have an awesome philly cheese steak sandwich delivered.  Or I can buy a couple two liters of soda to enjoy.

I have been hobby probramming since I was about 10, started on an Apple ][e.  From there, I moved onto BASIC in DOS, then to various flavors of Visual Basic over the years.  About 15 years ago, I found an online RPG which I played, but I was terrible at roleplaying so I never went far.  What I ended up doing was packet sniffing the game and creating my own server from scratch.  When the company decided to shut it down, I took up the game unofficially, then a couple years later, officially, and ran the game for ~8 years, up until last year when my kidneys gave out.  About that time, I had discovered Minecraft, and forayed into the world of Java, attemptinh and failing miserably  at writing an IC2 addon.  Last year, I discovered Thaumcraft 4, and loved it.  I found a couple things I didn't like, or that I thought was missing, and opened up Eclipse and started learning Java.  Thus, Advanced Thaumaturgy was born.

The smallest gift is not always the worst gift.  It shows that even though you are in a tight financial situation (or maybe you're just cheap, but we'll call it by the first thing) you are kind enough to support someone who makes your life more enjoyable.  You have my gratitude.

You can spend $5 a month on a cheap, shoddy game at some places on the internet.  Not many, but some.  If my mod(s) is/are more enjoyable than some of the junk available out there on the 'net, choose this pledge amount.  As a reward for going (a bit) above and beyond the bare minimum, I will be willing to personally offer short assistance with programming over Skype.  I will not take your programming project and do it for you, but I offer my knowledge and resourcefulness in finding solutions to you occasionally.

As a thank you for pledging a (to me) significant amount, I will prioritize communication from you, and will help you resolve any mod crashes that occur when they're used alongside my mod(s).  Crash support for my mod is always free with no strings attached!  This just covers problems when combined with other mods.

My mod, Advanced Thaumaturgy, has more lore in the Thaumonomicon entries than most mods care to put in.  Pledging this much guarantees you a permanent plug in any of my research entries that do not already have a specific person mentioned.  I will require that you have a 'decent' name and not something like "Minecraft_Player_545"

Be one of those crazy people who flaunts their cash!  Plus, I bet a friend that nobody would ever pledge this much.

My girlfriend says nobody will touch this, but if they do, I have to spend it all on her on an extremely fancy dinner.
Goals
$0 of $5 per month
A simply $5 a month would keep my interest in development high.  While I enjoy coding immensely, sometimes, it just seems like you dump hours and hours into something, and get nothing in return.  While I am driven as much by thanks and compliments as I am by money, you can't buy things with compliments.  (Well, I suppose some people do, but I don't have the right body type)
