Where We Started:
Lydiamag.com was founded in April 2013 as a blog-style magazine for women, aged 20-early 30’s. Lydia Magazine went on to publish four print and digital issues between Summer 2014 and Winter 2015. After our fourth issue, starring Hamilton’s Jasmine Cephas Jones, was published we took a hiatus from January 2016 through November 2016.

Where We Are Now:
We need women’s voices now more than ever. We need diversity more than ever. We need hope more than ever. So, in November 2016, we are back. We will be making some changes. Lydia will, for the time being, discontinue our digital print issues in favor of returning to online only content. We will accept submissions on a volunteer basis. We are moving to a non-profit model. We will also focus solely on publishing interviews with creative women from all spheres, along with some personal essays.
But some things will remain the same.

We are still EMPOWERING. We will still cover all those who identify as women. We will still amplify women’s voices by having all women writers and other creatives. We will still seek to create an environment that is supportive, uplifting, smart and passionate. We are still women, creating content with other women in mind.

We are still DIVERSE. We are still dedicated to covering the stories of women from a wide variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, body types, orientations, industries, etc. We still want you to be able to see yourself and your interests in the pages of Lydia. It is something that we are striving toward every day. It is the reason we are here.

We are still ACCESSIBLE. Lydia is still a site for women. Women who are in different stages of their lives and careers and who want to read stories that are relevant in their every day, real lives. We’re always going to cover women and the work we think you will be interested in learning more about. We still want to have the sort of content that WE want to see… because we know it’s what you want to see, too.

What We Do:
We talk to creative women in varying fields. We amplify their voices. We celebrate their victories. We prove that women are powerful, smart, strong, determined, and here to stay.

50% of all donations will go directly to charities that are benefiting women in the USA and around the globe. The other 50% will support upkeep of Lydia's website and other projects.
