About María José Giménez
Hello, and welcome to my Patreon page!
I am a genderqueer born-and-raised Venezuelan, dislocated and relocated multiple times across Turtle Island, currently based in Western Massachusetts. I am a poet, translator, editor, and connector with roots and community in places like Montreal, the Bay Area, and Gran Canaria. My work has received support from the NEA, the Studios at MASS MoCA, the Breadloaf Translators’ Conference, Canada Council for the Arts, and Banff International Literary Translators’ Centre.
In 2020, I am celebrating 20 years of freelancing and supporting my life and creative practice through translation, revision, copyediting, copywriting, and proofreading—and serving as the second poet laureate of Easthampton Massachusetts, a little city with a big heart. You can learn more about my professional work or read some of my published work here. This Patreon page is for poetry- and art-related pledges, connections, and collaborations.
I write to explore, honor, embody, and express the small, daily moments that make up human experience. The most valuable thing we have to give is our presence—our time and attention. I do that through poetry. That is my offering to you.
If you:
- believe in what I do and would like to support me
- were touched by a piece I've written or translated
- attended a reading and really wanted to buy that chapbook I hadn't produced yet
- want to see more collaborative art shows or performances with my stellar creative collaborators (my abundance is their abundance!)
- want a custom poem that captures the spirit of your community event or gathering
I invite you to join as a patron or make a private pledge via Paypal or Venmo.
This is your space, too. If you have suggestions for other benefits or ways to engage, please drop me a line.
I hope you will join me. I look forward to connecting and sharing my work with you.
