I
started my first internet radio station back in 2014. The Mad Music
Asylum went on the air on June 1st of that year. I launched the station
because I was disappointed in what local commercial radio had become.
Most pop and rock stations played the same tired songs over and over again and
even the "classic rock" stations weren't much better. The same songs
over and over again day after day. While I was researching commercial
radio, I learned that most commercial stations (even good ones)
only have a few hundred songs in their libraries.
The Mad Music Asylum has an active playlist of over 5,800 tunes and we
add to that on a regular basis. The Grateful Dead station has over 1,000
unique tracks. Jazz Radio has 4,100 songs and the blues station has
over 3,700 songs. I challenge you to find a station anywhere that plays
more music than we do. It has been a labor of love and has taken quite a
bit of time and effort but we think it's worth it to keep good music
accessible on the internet.
The expense of the station has been my "hobby" since June of 2014. I have spent countless hours making these stations easy to listen to with a wide variety of music and a small amount of interruptions. You can find all of the stations online or on the myTuner mobile app
