Hi, I'm Arcan, and I make Magicks.io, a virtual world about wizards.


What is Magicks.io?
Magicks is a free online multiplayer browser game, a so called "io" game, but so much more than that. Magicks is my quest to bring to life the dream of playing in a dynamic and evolving game world, that is deeply impacted by the actions of the players, and to take the risks to explore new ideas, where players can express themselves and be creative in combining a set of basic abilities into emergent game mechanics.


Deep spell casting combat system
The combat of the game revolves around the seven elements of Light, Dark, Water, Fire, Earth, Psychic, and Void, that players can learn many spells in and use to defeat their foes and help their friends. Each element has it's own weaknesses and strengths, a distinct playstyle and tactics to learn and master.


Dynamic environments
In most games, the game environment is simply a thing that you play on, but don't really play with, but not in Magicks.
Here, the environment is a big part of the gameplay, and can be manipulated by players, such as grass turning into dirt when walked over too much, and eventually a path that players can move over faster, or dirt turning into mud when wet, slowing players.
A seasons and weather system will gradually change the game world over time, creating different opportunities and challenges as time goes on.

Persistent player built bases
Players can team up and create an Order of wizards to engage in territory control and claim a zone for themselves, allowing them to build a mighty base and many useful structures to help them become the greatest mages in the land.
These bases become features of the landscape, and can change hands as Orders come and go.


Regular community driven updates
The work I do is directly influenced by the feedback I get from the players, with more requested things being prioritized. Check out the roadmap of planned and in-progress features at magicks.io/roadmap, and join the Discord server at https://discord.gg/w3SwSuA to vote on what you would like to see added next.


I would love to work only on this game and make it as awesome as I know it can be, but sadly money is a factor, and making games is not cheap. All money from your support will go towards the ongoing running costs of the game, and future development.
