This is such a weird and awkward thing, but whatever. If you're here, I assume it's because you are at least a little interested in what I'm doing. Here are some of the things I'm trying to do, and I need money to do them. I've been using my own money for stuff, but it's hard to do that. These projects are important but solely funding them simply isn't feasible.

Finish my book
When Freddie Gray died three years ago, I started writing a book about the racial, social, economic, and political history of Baltimore. If you happened to have followed my writing at the time, you know I was already writing about police reform. Watching what unfolded in Baltimore made me feel compelled to do more than blog posts. This has cost me a ton of money: wages and time lost, money for resources and access to studies, money to attend reform meetings (I do not have a car and I do not live in Baltimore), gear for protests (a GoPro! A selfie stick so my hand is less shaky!), etc.

My job primarily involves being nice to rude men, who are sometimes very drunk. I hate my job. It's physically and emotionally exhausting...but it pays the bills (and I guess sometimes creates content for me, ha). I'm a contractor, so even if it means that I just make enough on Patreon to accept one less day of work per month, that's amazing. Not only is it draining, but I have found sometimes I start something, go to work for two long 10+ hour days, and then when I'm ready to finish....someone on an actual payroll has finished what I was trying to do. I'm tired, y'all. I can't write when I've overworked -- and if I try, I'm generally unhappy with the quality.

A podcast! Videos!
I would love to give podcasting a try, and if you've followed me in the past you know I tried out making videos. They are time consuming and offer very little return in the beginning. I need a snowball mic and a light to start, because I don't want to bother producing mediocre stuff.

AbortMikePence.com
I started AMP to sell anti Trump t shirts, with half the proceeds going to various charities. My idea for it has kind of grown, though. I have been working on making it more like an encyclopedia for liberal arguments, if that makes sense. My idea is this: are you arguing with someone who insists that Americans can pull themselves up by their bootstraps? Well, head on over to www.abortmikepence.com, go to the "Poverty in America" section, and scroll through a wealth of studies, articles, links, infographics, and information divided up by "General Poverty," "Race & Poverty," "Affordable Housing," etc. The bad news is I have been learning as I go, and it's super time consuming. The good news is....I think it will be awesome when it's done?

T-Shirts!!!!
And let's not forget the original point of AMP: t-shirts! I own them myself and wear them around, but I get my personal shirts locally printed in DC. My goal is that all the shirts will be locally printed in DC, and then shipped out to the purchaser. The quality of the same kind of shirt printed here is almost comically better than what Teespring offers. The downside is that if I want to use my local printer, I need to buy in bulk, up front. Once I'm able to do that, I will be able to provide a better end to end experience (faster shipping, the shirts don't smell weird upon delivery like the ones from Teespring do, more money from each sale can go to charity, I can choose charities that aren't already listed on Teespring, etc). Another bonus: the people who do the shirts in DC do a great job, and it's always good to support a local person over an anonymous large internet retailer, AND it's poetic that a business near the White House is making DUMP TRUMP shirts, right?

Facebook sucks and doesn't show your posts to people who like your page. I suck at Tumblr and Pinterest. I have like 2.5 Twitter followers. Everyone wants my money to make anything I write get shown to actual humans! And so I have to pay money to Zuckerberg and Jack and whoever else. This also includes Visme and Canva, tools I use to  make infographics and the covers for blog entries.

So that's basically it, I guess. If I have enough patreons (is that what you're called? idk) who are interested, I'm happy to put up random content for patreons only. Updates on what I'm doing, on my life, maybe vlogs or something. I really don't know. I have a lot of random thoughts and venting that I'm sure my closest friends would be happy for me to share elsewhere, instead of in angry text storms.

$3 or more per month 3 patrons
This gets you my eternal gratitude. On the off chance people actually want "exclusive" patron only content, I am happy to make it.
