About Emanuel Burke
Over the course of my life, I have been told, both explicitly and implicitly, that art did not really matter, and that there was no legitimate place for it in the Church or society. But three years ago I sat down with a local priest over breakfast, and he told me, “You know, there’s a whole job for an artist in the Church right?”
The priest introduced me to an Orthodox deacon who showed me around the church where he served. I discovered a space where heaven met earth in a very tangible way, and more specifically, I discovered the meeting of heaven and earth in iconography.
Since that time I have dedicated myself to learning the craft of iconography, experimenting with the aesthetic, combining the spiritual principles with contemporary styles of illustration, and doing all I can to inspire believers and nonbelievers alike.
There is something in my work for everyone, and I hope it will give people the same vision of eternity I experienced when I first encountered an icon. I hope the same can be said for my illustrations, which aim to approach other subjects, even fictional subjects, with the same spirit with which I approach creating an icon.
Join me today as a patron, and help me make transcendent realities tangible!
In the past it was common for artist’s to be supported by patrons. The patrons would commission pieces and cover other expenses for them to continue their work.
Patrons understood the value of art extended beyond aesthetics, and that art was a communicator or transcendent realities and worldviews. Artists are the movers and shakers who are always at the front end of cultural shifts. Picasso, for example, painted Guernica in a post-WW1 and pre-WW2 world, displaying the chaotic and bloody nature of humanity during that time.
Becoming one of my patrons will help me do similar work for both the Church and humans in general. It will also allow me the pleasure of getting my work into your hands, homes, and churches.

Of course, I will also be posting work here. Sometimes I will share something that’s public, but most of what will be shared is
here for patrons. Join today for exclusive access, store discounts, monthly art downloads, and yearly rewards!
