I am the founder and Artistic Director of the Boston-based dance theater company: Danza Orgánica. Through my work, I invite audiences to reflect on our social consciousness, while providing a high caliber aesthetic experience.
Danza Orgánica is committed to promoting women's rights. The new work in progress is a piece inspired by the stories of families affected by incarceration- particularly women. I am currently researching, interviewing, and creating partnerships that will support the process. We are honored to have secured a partnership with Families for Justice as Healing, located in Jamaica Plain. My choreographic process is organic. We are currently digging into our own abstract prisons that prevent us from revealing our true identity. We are exploring the paradigms of culture, patriarchy, social structures, and relationships.
The experiences of people in prison and their families often go under the radar. Through movement and dance theater- we intend to provide support by giving an outside voice to our incarcerated women. We are also working out ways in which we can visit prison to gain a deeper perspective, and establish genuine relationships. To date, we are gaining knowledge and inspiration by analyzing stories and poetry written by formerly and current incarcerated women.
We are also proud to be collaborating with the Tony Williams Ballet for one section of this piece. We will be holding work-in-progress-showings throughout the year, including an excerpt at the annual festival: We Create! Celebrating Women in the Arts- produced by Danza Orgánica. We aim to show the completion of the piece by Fall 2016.
Your patronage will continue to make this work possible. Danza Orgánica dancers are mothers, students, people who have mouths to feed, and bills to pay. We are artists who dream of a better world. We love dance, performance, and connecting with our community. We are committed to spreading beauty. We see beauty in a healthy community, where everyone is heard and appreciated. We see beauty in equality, diversity and integration. Your patronage will enable us to continue to spread beauty in a world that really needs hope. Thank you.

Goals
$0 of $4,000 per Danza Orgánica Creations
I am committed to paying my dancers and partners for their work. Aside from rehearsals, my goal is to pay the dancers $400 for the new project. The project is estimated to take at least a year. We are 8 dancers. There are also two main partners from Families for Justice as Healing. The goal is to pay $400 each for this piece.
