John Page is creating Math reference
20

patrons

$92
per month

Hi. I am John Page, the creator of Math Open Reference. I am so glad you are considering becoming a patron!

As a software engineer interested in education, I was struck by the absurdity of paper textbooks in the information age.  The printing methods Gutenberg invented in 1439 surely can be moved to modern technology. But how exactly?

After some experiments, I ended up with tools for teaching and learning that are interactive and immersive, allowing the student to interactively explore concepts and teachers to show them using a projector.   Over the years since then I have gradually built up the site, and it is now used in thousands of schools and gets millions of visits a month from all over the world. It uses highly interactive applets to create real in-depth understanding of math concepts in a way that paper textbooks cannot.

It is woven into the lesson plans of teachers the world over.

But those advertisements!   Until now the site has been supported by advertising, since that is the only way to keep it free for teachers and students.  I have always hated the ads, but I could not see an alternative.  But now, with Patreon, perhaps there is a better way.   For a modest monthly amount you can become a supporter of Math Open Reference.

So I'll make this promise: if  we meet our goals on Patreon I will remove all advertising from the site.    I can't wait !

By becoming a patron, you will be making the site ad-free and free of charge for everyone!

When I am working on the site,  I see it without ads and know how refreshingly clean and fast it is.  It is wonderfully free of distractions.  I want that for everyone.   Will you make that possible?  I am very excited by the possibility.

Teachers and learners all over the world will thank you, and parents struggling to help their children with math homework will have a clean and fast resource that loads quickly even on slow connections and is free of distractions.

So, will you become a patron and make the site so much better?   You will be making it possible for the site to grow and improve without advertising. Thank you so much!
Goals

When we reach this goal, I will remove all advertising from the site worldwide!  This will make the site cleaner, faster, with less ditractions.  The site can grow and thrive without ads.
