Maybe Someday is creating Podcast
My story:

Hi! I’m Sarah Dobson. I launched the Maybe Someday podcast in May 2018 because I was on the fence about having a baby, and I wanted to talk about it.

I created the whole first season by myself: writing, recording interviews, editing everything - it was taking me two full days a week on top of my full-time job. It was A LOT.

I’ve learned a couple of things through my experience in that first year:

  1. I want this show to go on for a long time. I'm doing it because I want to share honest, vulnerable stories about the choices that women make for their lives—which feels like a really important thing to be doing right now. These choices are complex, emotional, and deeply personal.
  2. I need to make this show self-sustaining if it’s going to stay alive. This show takes a lot of time, energy, creativity, love, and money to make. And I just can’t do it by myself. Because I already have a full-time job (I run my own business as a grant writer). I did everything and paid for everything related to the show on my own last year. And I’m really glad I did. But that’s not a sustainable way for me to continue.
  3. I don’t want to do ads. I just...don’t. And I don’t think you want me to, either.
  4. I want to meet you! I want to build a community for all the ambivalent ones. For all the folks who believe that two things can be true at the same time. I want to honour the folks who make "unconventional" choices - whether those choices are deliberate or circumstantial. Because still, even now, there's a lot of pressure to make choices that fit a specific story. The Maybe Someday community is for listeners and supporters of the show who want to feel seen, heard, and supported in the choices they've made for their lives.

I need your help. Please consider keeping this podcast alive with a monthly donation.

Patreon works on a monthly donation model. You can join one of the tiers I’ve created or you can donate whatever you want per month. The donation is recurring each month after that for as long as you like. So anything, from $1/month up, is enormously helpful.

What I'll use the money for:

My initial goal is $500/month. That level of support will keep the show alive by paying a producer to do the sound editing for the show.
  • I hired a producer for Season 2 of the show to help me edit the interviews I do. All donations will first go to paying her to produce the interviews, which means that I won’t be paying her out of pocket.
  • I’m still doing the sound editing for the Reflection episodes, but with enough monthly donations I’ll be able to pass those along to my producer as well.
  • Sound editing is expensive, and my current producer is giving me a huge deal on the editing cost per episode. So with enough donations I’d like to increase her fee per episode and pay her what editors of her calibre typically earn.

Your monthly donation gives you access to well, ME, and to lots of great stuff (check out the tiers on the right sidebar). We’re going to build this together. I can’t wait to meet you!

Hugs and gratitude,
Sarah
