Why support The Mutant Epoch
After much contemplation, and seeing what other creative artsy fartsy types were doing with Patreon.com, I’ve decided to give this fan support thingy a try. Yeah, I thought I’d go against my own grain a bit and do ‘the ask’.

Throughout history, artists and writers have relied on the patronage of the church, state and wealthy to pursue creative endeavors and bring us some of the most famous works of art, literature and music the world has ever known. My plans aren’t that grand, but I do love to bring out new content for TME fans, including plenty of free and ‘pay what you want’ PDFs. You can help in this by becoming a patron of the arts, Outland Arts, that is, for as little as a buck a month. This money will go toward the online costs of web hosting, banner and a few print ads, postage to send copies to reviewers, and the general promotion of The Mutant Epoch game, novels and universe.

I know many of you have already done so much to promote The Mutant Epoch, especially with spreading the word, answering questions on the TME forum, creating content, writing positive reviews, retweeting, approaching your local game shops and running adventures at conventions. I am incredibly thankful to you for this.

There are also plenty of people I know of who aren’t RPG players at all, nor go in for post-apocalyptic media of any type, and won’t buy Mutant Epoch books. However, they believe in what I am doing and see how obsessed I am with making the TME milieu reach the tipping point and go big. They want to help, too. By offering them a way to support my efforts through this arts patron model, they can help make this happen in a painless, yet highly effective and much appreciated way.

Until I get a video up, the above speech will have to suffice as I am in the middle of releasing our latest book, Mutant Bestiary One. Going cap in hand and asking for support is harder than I thought, and writing this is more challenging than crafting the back cover blurb on a new book!

They are similar though. Releasing a new book into the world is somewhat of an ask in the first place, as one presents their creative efforts and says, look what I did, wanna put it on your fridge? Want to support the artist and foster more content?

Any support is highly appreciated however. If you want to help out but can’t spare the change this time around, no worries. You can always tweet, like or share about us on social meda, buy the TME books, play the game, write positive reviews, download free releases, and spread the word of The Mutant Epoch milieu with your friends.

Kindest regards,
William McAusland
