My name is Michael Coorlim, author of nine science fiction and steampunk novels. I was a finalist in the Chicago Reader's "Best Chicago Novelist" and "Best Fiction Novel" categories, and for the Parsec Awards "Best New Speculative Fiction Podcast or Team."

Why are you on Patreon?

I am not good at capitalism, but I like making things and not being homeless.

My income is based entirely on the sales of my books, which can fluctuate quite a bit month-to-month. Some months I crack four figures, others I barely break three - it's a roller coaster made of terror and income insecurity. Patreon offers me an island of stability amid all the chaos - however my sales run that month, I know I have a guaranteed steady income from those who believe in me.

What are you working on?

This September I'll be a featured guest at the Chicago Steampunk Expo, so I'm furiously trying to get my next Galvanic Century novel ready to release at that time, along with a few other steampunk related projects. It'll be the 7th novel in the series, bringing our story right to the doorstop of the first world war.

Paperback or hardcover? Why not both?

At this level, every time a book is published while you're supporting, you get two copies, one hardcover, one paperback, in addition to all the other stuff. I'll sign them for you, too.

Goals
$54 of $100 per month
A hundred dollars a month covers a lot of little things that I need to keep making things. Web hosting, utilities, internet, PO Box rental, mailchimp, dropbox, it all adds up. A steady $100/month takes a load of stress off my shoulders.
